Mongrel Punt described him as a young Yeo and while he has been great I find that lazy description. Yeah similar height and HBF turned to mid but Yeo has always been very physical player and someone that loves a contested ball. Not knocking Hough as he has so far been a shit ton better than what I thought he’d be as a mid.
Yeah nothing like Yeo apart from maybe size. I’d have him more as a Willem Drew type which is exactly what we need if Hewett and Harley are the main guys.

Is it me because I didn't see hough in the middle? I did not remember seeing him at all in our cba from quarter 1 to 3.

Are we sure he played in the middle? Or did he start at hbf then went mid in stoppages. Unless he played wing which i paid no attention to

I seem to not recall hough in the middle at all. Most of his possesion were in the backline except a goal

Funnily enough it was his lowest percentage wise during this stint (44%). But we shared it around well, nine players at CBAs.

Good tool this, percentages are much more useful than raw CBA data. Baker, Hough, Kelly, Hewett all interesting.

I think there are also distinct roles as well. When Brockman and Ryan were in there, they were in there together, and when they were I saw Hough starting in the forward line and then swapping with Brockman who would go forward.

Basically Brockman was playing as a forward who took centre bounces and Hough as a mid who started forward.

Not sure anymore, Houghy was noticeabley angry Sunday, a few off the ball tussles with saints players, and at CB lots of push and shove before the bounce.

Thanks for the link it's very good.

And if you want a massive positive compare our % to basically every other club. Ours is the only midfield with serious % to multiple youngsters.

Take Richmond for example:

Let the nuff nuffs (corned anyone.) think our rebuild is falling flat, but Im loving the responsibility mini is putting on the youth.

Tbf is we had the quality of Hopper, Taranto and Nank we’d probably have less youth and less of Ryan/Brockman in there.

I was reliably informed Sam Lalor was doing things we haven’t seen a first year player do before.

Not shitting on the kid, but a great way to highlight how little is being asked of their kids/how much support they’re getting from senior players, rather than making strides in spite of the senior players available (or in our case, usually unavailable).

“The rebuild” isn’t just who had the most picks playing, or who has a two point win over the other in the books.

Just saw the first part and thought you were implying that Richmond's midfield was a Temu version of WCE's.

To which I wholeheartedly agree.

He’s early days into his career but if the long term goal is him as a mid then we’d need to work on his contested and clearance craft over the preseason

Yeah I'm with you on this one fam.

I'm pleasantly surprised with Hough as much as anyone, but to me he's looking like a wingman who does CBD's.

Comparison's to Yeo are laughable. Other than their build, totally different players. If we plan on sticking with Hough in the middle, which I actually don't mind as he's clearly not having trouble finding the footy, we should work on his contested game and midfield craft more.

Tackling he already has a tick ✅ I guess we can thank his former defender role for that.

Clearances and CP's basically. Impact. I know he's put on a bit of weight since he was drafted, but if he's going to be around stoppages, a bit more wouldn't hurt IMO. Don't want to try and turn him into a bull, just got to keep the balance as he's going to be matched up on some quality players.
