Fully expecting a reaming here. Something like

Chesser to Blues
Hollands to Richmond
Young to Eagles.

Just shoot me now.

Has been on the cards the whole time unfortunately, had we made an offer earlier he would have accepted it but obviously had to balance that with performance.

TDK compo should be our goal given it’s likely to be after a Dean bid. Maybe Chesser, R2, and F2 for pick 10 and F3.
Pretty poor list management if that’s the case.

I know he hasn’t shown heaps but he’s a first round pick that hasn’t had a good go at it. We’ve also given extensions to guys like Hutchinson who have arguably shown less.

On a list like ours he should have been signed up a long time ago. May still not make it but he was never the worst player on the list even when he was in poor form.

Nek minnit, Chesser for Mitch McGovern............

A few weeks ago we were all wondering whether we would get any value from him at all, either on the field or via trade. A solid 4-week stretch has raised his value a bit - and if we were aware he was looking elsewhere, giving him a decent run was good strategy.

He's still a risk for Carlton, because he has very little exposed form. Some ability and skills, sure, but not many games where he's produced them consistently for 4 quarters.

I'd take a R2 pick (this year or next) or player of equivalent value.

Don’t think I need to clarify anything on my thoughts about our list manager. It was a no brainer to give him at least an extra year earlier with our list’s age profile. At least there is an actual counter argument here but it still doesn’t stack up.

The first players we've drafted since Woosha left:

2014: Pick 11, Liam Duggan
2015: Pick 28, Luke Partington [Redden trade]
2016: Pick 13, Daniel Venables
2017: Pick 13, Jarrod Brander
2018: Pick 28, Xavier O'Neill
2019: Pick 49, Callum Jamieson [Kelly Trade]
2020: Pick 52, Luke Edwards [Kelly Trade]
2021: Pick 14, Campbell Chesser [assuming the tweet is accurate...]
2022: Pick 9, Reuben Ginbey
2023: Pick 1, Harley Reid
2024: Pick 16, Bo Allen

THEY'VE DONE IT TO THEMSELVES!!!

Three clear wins there (Duggan, Ginbey, Reid), one jury still out (Allen), and 7 failures (albeit two of them taken at the arse end of the draft because of Tim Kelly).

Also, look at how many mid-first round type picks we've taken (Duggan, Venables, Brander, Chesser, Allen). Who the **** looks at a natural draft haul of Duggan, Venables and Brander, and thinks, you know what, lets ****ing double down on that, trade down and deliberately draft more players in that draft range when we don't have to!

I guess the most important question in regards to him being an immediate hit with Carlton is will he drive over??
Certainly seemed to get him an extra year or 2 with us

Really dissapointing from Chesser (mostly) and the club (partially as i think there would have been too little communication from them).

After 4 years of development, you would expect more from Chesser, or at the very least you would expect him to copy Baker in saying "I expect the Eagles to get fair compensation".

His worth is at its lowest, yet his payoff and potential at its highest. He could break out next year, and unless we get fair value it will be hard not to cheer against him.

We should try to get Blake acres for him. Any pick we would get would be utter dogshit and you’d think they wouldn’t want to give up any decent youth. We were supposedly linked to him earlier in the season aswell

Blues nuffie but tied up with Sen so you’d think might have some Blues intel.
It's a good question though. It suggests that it's more want than actual at the moment.

He's 31 next year and not very good.

That's a strong pass from me.

Mini has stated Campbell is a tellented player, more recently after he was on the park Mini stated that is ankle issue will have to be carried for the rest of his career. Just perhaps the club is being honest with players in presenting deals and Campbell is seeking an easier path? Carlton have been in his ear for 12 months just like Ryan and Allen respectively.

Yeah if true it’s a little disappointing, seemed to have a good relationship with Mini and close with Harley. Seemed to always be out with the lads and all we keep hearing is how the young boys are planning on sticking together and build also Perth misses I believe.

Eagles did the right thing to have a look before they offered him a contract. Did look decent on the wing in a small sample size and perfect for where the game is going. Can run forward and back.

Will be a trade unders now that we have to turn into a positive. Hit the pick or the player we get to replace him (McVee? Even though it sounds like he’s not that interested in returning to WA)
