Not a bad debut, great for his confidence. That's the Clay hall we'd hoped for. Good to have an inside bull as backup for Yeo and injuries. Needs to work on his strength apparently and his kicking, mind you that hack kick from a stoppage scoring a random goal, wasn't bad!

Appreciate the insight; except the excerpt about his dad being a good bloke is irrelevant as we shouldn't have 'I like having a drink with their dad' as a recruitment KPI.

I agree that Clay is going to be a good inside mid in time, and with our current stock of young wings - with Banfield also coming too, he was the more important acquisition.

Wasn't aware of Feijah's mummysyndrome.

Do you think we would draft a kid who's father is sergeant of arms of a bikey gang?

Wasn't his debut but agree he was decent

All i know is we needed contested posessions last week. Couldn't buy one. Or a clearance for that matter.

This week they bring in Hall and 14 of his 15 touches were contested. Team High.

Also rolls on in and notches up a team high in clearances for West Coast, as well as kicking a juicy stoppage goal.

In terms of a reserves player coming in to play a specific role for the team, you couldn't pick a better example than what Hall just did. Very impressive. He's got to stay in the team now. He's earned it after that performance.

Selection integrity means he's got to stay in. Too many times young players have put up a good game and then found themselves back in the WAFL afterwards to make way for more established seniors, much to our detriment as they inevitably let us down. Can't have that happen this time.

I said after the first week I'd kill for a Priddis type in this team. Who cares if he can't kick, Clay Hall can provide some of that now. As you say we just need to win some clearances and contested possession.

For sure.

With the small caveat that he may need to go back to the WAFL at some point so he can play on reduced minutes.

No point sending him out on the AFL team if he isn't at full strength. Need to protect him.
