I’m no Dev lover or hater. Probably had some spite in not wanting to get him after he bailed on us last minute. But there’s a good chance Dev is talked as one of the most valuable recruits in the league end of next season. Paid five fifths of f all for a player at the start of their peak age range and in a position we’re in dire need of.

Let’s hope it goes well. We’ll be a far better team if he’s in there and we’re not throwing the youth to the wolves.

Dev is a known quantity. No reason to have a cry over it.

Schoenberg is certainly more the type of player we need and his versatility is what earnt him games.


Does he need another 5 years?

Sort of a known quantity at 24, but that’s not the full picture. It could be argued that he’d be a best 22 AFL quality extractor in a few weaker midfields than Brisbane’s…. and that could just be ours.

I’m more of the camp that those factors means he hasn’t had the best opportunity, and he could step up once handed it. He isn’t flashy but he has some nice attributes in and around the contest

And those type of players if good enough at

1) winning first possession
2) handballing effectively
3) tackling

Can make it. Gotta do all pretty well with the other limitations you’ve listed though. I think with age profile and what he can muster in the VFL he’s certainly worth a shot and if Hall or Gross overtake him earlier than expected so be it

First time I have read about his speed being an issue at all.

Kicking under pressure sure.

To be fair I cant recall much at all about his playing style as he has played so few game in the last 2 yeqrs at the top level.

Do know he is quick enough to run both ways and defend. Certainly not slow.

His decision making at stoppages may be slower than the eliete mids. So slow of mind not body?

Edit. Just went and looked up his combine results.

2.92 seconds 20m sprint.
7.79 agility test.

He isnt slow by foot.

He doesn’t need to be average +25 possies a game but even averaging +18 touches with a huge chunk of it being contested(as well as averaging 4-5 clearances) would go along way for that midfield. if Yeo stays fit, he’d make a decent third on baller next year.

Hutchings played in 120 games including two grand finals and won a premiership. Pretty sure he also holds a club record of 16 tackles in a game vs Cockburn as well.



Dev has played 47 games, with lots of them being sub affected. So much upside it's not funny. Just needs opportunity.
