I read this and it seemed like a lot of money. If Essendon and Melbourne miss finals I could see us asking for both firsts (Essendon hold Melbourne's first) and their future first (2 x top 10 picks and Essendon's F1). We would then trade some of that to Sydney for Warner. If you're offering a ten year, 20 million contract (as rumoured) you need to pay up imo.
We wont have pick 1 even if we intentionally ruin our own season.

Richmond will still be worse than us
that's trueHarley could sign a nine year deal tomorrow morning, and Victorians would still be asking every day about him.

I read this and it seemed like a lot of money.
Then I read that Erling Haaland just signed a deal at Man City that has him paid £500k ($1mill AUD) per week for 9 years (plus inflation clauses).
That's a serious pile of cash.
They wouldn’t plan on it but if he asks for a trade or hasn’t signed by the end of the season and they would have a fair idea by then if they think he plans to, it would have to be looked at.We absolutely cannot afford to entertain letting Harley go unless our other young mids really come on like Hewett and Hall, perhaps Gross and Davis, or even Ginbey and Allan as mids.
This season will reveal a lot about how much of an impact losing Reid would hurt.
Cos at the moment Reid is the only sure thing in our future midfield, with alot of other potentials.
Yes but who is Smith?
Harley may be more appealing to them but they arguably have more list holes than we do.
Just go back to the Baker trade threads and you'll see Richmond supporters shitting all over their recruitment for the past 6-8 years whenever Matt Clarke was brought up.
Their supporters have been very critical of their drafting up until last 2 years, due to so many misses nut that's because they were in a similar spot to WCE, due to ladder position not giving them enough high draft picks to rejuvenate but they then went out and got Taranto & Hopper, which now appears to be a costly mistake.
They also didn't pick a true ruck this draft(opted for a fwd/ruck) and they don't have any likely KPDs, outside of Gibcus, who's perma-injured.
You've also left Hough and Maric out of your 'haven't seen much' line. Hough's definitely better than anyone Richmond's drafted in the same period, for starters.
Last year may end up the greatest draft of all time for them but that's years away from being known and there's not much else on the list to justify throwing away 2x top 5 picks and a player, for HR, as per Aristotle's suggestion.
Last year’s draft was superb in depth and I think we’ll see a lot of AFL quality players come out of it but an average or below average amount of “stars”. No one screams 300 games but I think there will be plenty of picks 30+ that get to 200.RE last years draft being the GOAT.
But in every draft how many top level stars are found? Even in super drafts?
3....4.....7? 1? What the average?
Probability they got all of the guns and everyone else missed out? Pretty low.
So if lucky Tigers land 2 top shelf guns in 2024 draft. They just lost a few as well.
Harley wants to win games . Richmond are in for a world of hurt for at least 2-3 seasons . Norf levels of shit .As a hypothetical, If Harley wanted to leave , what would get deal done?
We've got a heap of 20 to 23yo players plus the 8 draft picks.Harley wants to win games . Richmond are in for a world of hurt for at least 2-3 seasons . Norf levels of shit .
I doubt Richmond would be considered if he left
Warner bought a house in wa
Richmond will be significantly more shit than the putrid they were this season.Hopefully we don't finish last but getting Sharp would be a good bonus.
Also we probably won't beat Richmond at the MCG in the middle of winter.

Mate you have less than 10 senior players half have their best footy behind them and a few of them are cooked like lynch , prestia and Nankervis who can't stay on the park .We've got a heap of 20 to 23yo players plus the 8 draft picks.
This year will decide how good they will be.
Hear hear! What makes people think that Harley will leave if we don’t rapidly climb the ladder? Can we not spend the next two years speculating on whether Harley re-signs or not?
It's completely pointless.
Is Sharp a clear no1?
