Great to see him do well in his first game, but certainly no surprise to me - that's what he is capable of and indeed even more. Impressive to see him beat all 3 rucks he went up against with some really nice taps down the throats of some mids. He could well pull a Tristian Xerri in how he improved from VFL to AFL, he's got that sort of ability in him.

If both rucks are up to scratch and versatile, I can definitely see us adopting a dual ruck approach with Marshall in the forward half and Boyd in the back half (sitting in the hole). By the looks of it Boyd is no slouch at ground level so I'm not overly concerned by having both on the ground.

We don't want to take Marshall out of the ruck entirely, he has been unreal the last two years there.
Absolutely. Ross tried it a couple of times with Campbell last year. Was most likely canned not because Ross doesn’t like playing two rucks, but rather Campbell didn’t warrant continued selection.

A bit was bad timing. We tried it against the Lions with our makeshift midfield. Marshall wins so much of our clearances that moving him out lets a good set up strip the ball out with zero resistance.

I think we probably have a better chance of making it work with Macrae in. He's a one man extraction unit. Lets Steele and the third mid play a bit more defensive and have a bit more freedom of their own with the less defensive mids on them.

Boyd seems to have the follow up ground work of Marshall with a bit better tap technique. He was almost getting it too easy against Carlton. A few spilled into space that didn't advantage us.

We didn't get the random kick into the forward line.

Your cousin goes to all Norwood games and tells you he can't see it with Harry, yet he won the Magarey Medal.
After Saturdays effort from Harry, think your cousin may need glasses
I didn't want to say in my post snails13....but my cousin isn't the greatest judge.

Full stop.....!!!!!

What happened to this guy? A lot of big expectations, played one game, and then banished.
Will he play again? Or just go back to Norwood?
I don't think that there is ever that much expectation on a player signed in January. He is a back up ruck on our list in case Marshall is injured. He might get another year depending on the movements of TDK, Marshall and Heath.

Yeah, if he can’t crack another senior game in the next few weeks I think his Brownlow chances are pretty much shot unfortunately.

I think It's as simple as RL doesn't believe in playing two rucks unless they are both very good at something else.

Which I think has been misguided this year. Having an extra big body to stick up forward along with providing genuine ruck support would have made us a better team.
