werent some of the cordners father/sons or were they simply district picked?

There were 3 Cordner Brothers who were terrific footballers; and yes, one of them had a Son called David who played for the MFC.

As I said, we've only ever had one good one.

The Barassi and Dullard F/S combinations at MFC spring to mind.

Have you been following the thread ?

Do I need to state again that there's only ever been one good F/S at Melbourne ? And I've already mentioned that Melb were responsible for the rule.

You do remember Dullard's nickname I assume ?

Steady on tough guy. I was just pointing out some father son combinations that have played at the club. I know the F/S rule did not apply to these players.

Don't take yourself so seriously.

And yes, my father used to speak about Spud in glowing terms.

what was wrong with david cordner?

If you have to ask you obviously never saw him play.

He came with massive expectations, but to quote Chris Connolly from many years ago about the subject at hand; "looked like Tarzan, played like Jane, smelt like Cheetah".

He played 50 very ordinary games before being shunted to Sydney. A huge disappointment.

As I keep saying, we've only ever had one good one.

fair enough about cordner but you need to go through the history for that to be proven. We have had some that have flown under the radar (ie it wasnt common knowledge they were father sons) surely

judging by the years of debut Bob Johnson (jnr) could be considered a father son because he debuted a year after barassi.

And if you talking about pure father sons, most of the cordners were sons of Edward Cordner...

Thanks to Demon wiki and Super :D
