Great news for us, but potentially terrible news for Bailey if we don't start well next year. He's looking pretty lonely against the 80's Club of Stynes/Connolly/Schwab/Viney.

Don’t know how many allies he’s going to have if things start going south next season – especially with one ex-coach and one potential future coach both waiting in the wings.

Don't think it will be a problem, and i hope that the players will be his allies

Stynes and co would respect his relationship with the players and as long as we don't get worse next year, Bailey will keep his job

Best news of the pre-season thus far.

Todd is a terrific coach and will be sensational with the younger players, whilst to get Jack locked in means we can definitely go tall with Pick 12 this year.

All thats left to do is bring back Stephen Tingay and Allen Jakovich to the club in some form and we will have the dream team. :D

Now that Jakovich has had a couple of years to rest that back of his, maybe we could dangle the vacant FF carrot in front of him. I don't care how much weight he's put on and how slow he's got, he'd still do something special. Just think of a forward line with Jurrah and Jakovich :D. It's salivating stuff that is!!!!

Don't forget Kelly O'Donnell. At least Bails has Josh Mahoney on his side.

Great article which states the move was all about Jack.

Harper said Viney had made the decision to quit the Crows and return to Melbourne based on what was best for his 16-year-old son, Jack.

The Prince Alfred College student starred for South Australia at the NAB AFL Under-16 Championships in July and has already attracted the attention of the Demons, where he is eligible to be selected under the father-son rule.

Adelaide was exploring a loophole in the soon-to-be-finalised concessions for the new Greater Western Sydney team next season in a bid to snatch Viney from the Dees, but Harper said it was clear the Viney family expected Jack to play for Melbourne.

"Todd and Meagan have got a young son Jack, who is a good footy player and they're a fair way down the track of him going father-son to Melbourne," Harper said.

"If that happens he ends up in Melbourne doing Year 12 without his family and trying to play AFL footy, which is probably a recipe for disaster.

"Todd had the offer of the role and the thought was to send the whole family back there and try and get as much support for their son as they can."
Odds on to get Jack now.

edit: Screw you Deestroy haha

Alex_is_on_fire as i have stated WE WILL NOT have created a position out of nothing because someone wasnt guaranteed a role at another club. We simply would have given him another position if we think that he is better at another person at something.

i was gonna tell you guys about this but i got caught up in the big cheney news and forgot i heard it.

i also know that jack will be training with the club for a little over summer as the afl has no rules against family members of the club having a run around on the oval.

great news

Great news all-round! :D

Jack aside, Todd is highly regarded in the coaching fraternity and has experience across a number of successful clubs, and also in other high level professional sport.

Up yours Wellman.

I have a feeling Jack will have gone 1 if melbourne dont pick him, melbourne is moving heaven and earth to get him

Very unselfish move Todd Viney.

This move makes things a hell of a lot easier on young Jack,
who wouldve became under pressure in 2011 to make his mind up.

Smart move by Todd and welcome back.

Also, I think Big Scout has always had an inside source, cheers mate.

But I thought you went for Collingwood? Hell of a time to jump off!..

is there ANYWAY hawks can pinch him easily, because he may simply want to come back to melbourne instead of hawthorn while jack goes to hawks.

Please tell me there isnt a chance.
