So Bailey Williams CHF? Which removes Darling, Maric and J Williams? Any more than 3 tall fwds is too many especially in Wet Weather Footy. Need to accomodate Mid Fwds & Small fwds like Hewett, Cripps, Ryan, Petch, Long, Reid, Culley etc. Lol i even left Brockman and Dewar out of that list.

Last yr to this yr is a big difference.

There is also Archer Reid and Coen Livingstone , I have an idea just now the perhaps Oscar is bulking up to be a KPD which he would be able to do and excel at ..

I've been watching quite a lot of Harley Reid highlights recently (probably too much), and I just keep thinking how there are very few players that are similar to him. That round 04-07 period was fantastic, and I haven't seen anyone emulate that since, which is fair enough, really. Peak Reid is up there with the best of the best, and that sort of form only happens once in a lifetime. But I still crave it, and so, that brings me to Hutchinson.

I watched Hutcho pretty closely this season, and I just kept seeing flashes of Reid whenever he picked up the ball - small, but very much there. The way he twisted and turned, gave the ball off, kicked off both feet seamlessly. I didn't want to get my hopes up too high at first, but after watching Reid highlights obsessively, I just can't shake the feeling.

Could Hutchinson be a similar player to Reid, once he puts it all together? I highly doubt what we've seen this year of Hutchinson is anything close to his best; injury has been a massive problem for him for the past 4 years, and he's probably quite a ways back from where his peers are.

How good could he be?

All I know is we need to turn him into a HBF before we can turn him into a mid. It is the way.

Exciting pick up!
Good athletic profile
Fills list gap in age group at 22yo
Speed- massive tick
Untapped potential in professional environment
Like most punters- hoping he can push up to wing/ HB

Looks to be a real focus by club to draft athletic 190cm+ players recently... Not just KPP but mids and flankers. Gonna be some big units running around next few years, taking hangers and crash tackling feebs!!

Go well young fella! Welcome to Eagle Country!!

Welcome aboard, Jack.

  • He has already lived in Perth for a year as a teenager, so he has some familiarity with the City.
  • Already lived away from home.
  • Vic Country boy so less likely to head back home.

Not at all surprised with the pick, as he has been linked to us for a while now.

Looking at the video in the Collingwood rooms, he and his teammates seemed to know it was happening, at least had an inkling of it. Great choice. Another excitement machine in the mix doesn't hurt.

He did interviews on both 6PR and ABC. In each of them he said he had a fair idea through his manager (Scott Lucas) that he was headed west

I'm not sure 190cm really qualifies as a 'tall' in the modern game, I feel this is more of a utility pick than what is being reported.

The commentary seems to suggest that
National Recruiting Manager Duane Massey said Hutchinson represented an untapped talent.

“Jack is playing as a 190cm forward, can really mark it, has got really good speed and is very compliant in the Collingwood system,” he said.

“We feel he’s got some real upside with his athleticism and aerial ability and that he could play other roles.

“He could possibly play wing or across half-back, so we think he’s got flexibility in his game to play a few different roles. We really like his talent.”

He got 13 cm on him. Elliot 177cm 5 ft 9, Hutchinson 190cm 6 ft 2.8 [3]

Jake Waterman 191cm. There is your comparison. He is what Jake Waterman used to play. So watch this space. 2 Tall Fwds are coming into the team within 2 weeks. One being Flynn to Ruck, B Williams to CHF & the other Oscar Allen.

He is exactly what Waterman could not do.
Jake is taller and less athletic.

Oscar wont be back in two weeks.

Is not up to AFL fitness levels yet coming back from that knee and is heavier.

Even expect a run in the WAFL to set standards for playrs returning. If Flynn comes in Bailey can have a rest, plenty of tall options so no need to rush Allen.
