He must be getting out of Perth a lot then.

Pick 51
Nick Holma, Dylan Van Unen, Nathan Blee, Dean McDonald, Troy Taylor. Not an inspiring bunch of names for the pick 51's in the last draft before Nelson.I wonder how many pick 51's have played the first two games after they were drafted?
I'm hoping Nelson's confidence continues to grow. I like that he went for a canter and kicked that i50. He has gone for a jog a couple of times and then handballed a team-mate into trouble - probably just needs to back himself more to make that next disposal down the line, he is a good kick.
He has probably pushed the good old Buts out of the team. On current form Nelson is best 22 but when Ellis returns it will be interesting. Happy to see him playing diwn back but in the coming years will be a solid midfield rotation.
First post really sums it up:
2 games in, already in the top half of our team for poise & composure, really good skills and seems at ease at AFL level. Definitely a steal.
Will be tested next week but I think he has the goods.
I'm amazed at how composed this guy is. He'll get more and more confident as time goes on with his kicking and backing himself, but he looks good. Sam Butler must be annoyed because he looks to be a future HBF/midfielder. Pretty happy to have picked Nelson up in the player sponsor draft!
Given Butler's injury history, how long due you think Butler has left? This season or until the end of next year? You obviously don't really know much about Sam Butler then.
He's a team first man and won Best Club Man in 2014. He copped a slight strain and wasn't available to be selected. He knows Nelson won't play 22 games as he would have known he himself wouldn't be playing 22 games in 2015.
Saying that I'm sure that both Sam and I are more than happy to have picked up Nelson with pick 51. If Nelson can follow say a Waterman career path and also play with impact rotating through the midfield as well everyone will be very happy..........including Sammy Butler.![]()

Don't you think we need a midfielder more than a rebounding half-back?I think this will be his last season. We are overdue to land a trade or free agent and will need to free up the cap space. We have Nelson looking pretty good plus Ellis, Adams and Brophy all there as depth to cover Butler.
Waters + Butler + Hill + McGinnity = Rance / Yarran or a Bennell.
The point still stands though, Butler won't be annoyed by being passed by a young gun. He is a team player and is grateful for what the club has done for him and what he has achieved with it over the journey.

Big fan, think he'll shore up our HBF stocks. Was a fan of picking him at 32, stoked we got him at 51.
The fawning over Nelson in this thread after he had played 2 games is probably a warning to stop putting so much expectation on young guys in their first season as he went from this to the board whipping boy. It is impossible to forecast the next 10 years of a player's career.
See: Hough praise and Williams hate.
