Would be amazing if Blanck's career is similar to Sam Collins once he joined the Suns from Box Hill.
He joined Fremantle from BHH in 2016

He actually joined the Suns in 2019 after going back to Werribee as Freo let him go at the end of 2017.

Suns were his 2nd crack at AFL.

James Blanck (12 spoils, 7 tackles, 8 disposals)

“Blancky won the Gibbs-Lines Medal – a recognition of the player deemed to best exemplify the ANZAC spirit. You look at Blancky’s stats sheet and he only had the eight touches, but beyond that he had seven tackles and 12 spoils. They’re things you don’t necessarily see when you go and watch a game, but he saved us a few times. His ability to just recover defence for us, cover off for his teammates, and be tough was probably why he was awarded the medal in an ANZAC weekend which was really pleasing. We saw some great leadership from him down back, he played on probably their best forward. Even the opposition coach mentioned after the game that they had Blanck beaten a few times, but he somehow recovered and got a fist in and gave a great contest. It was a great reward for Blancky.”

Similar to DGB - blanketing the opposition. He needs opportunities in the seniors.

To get the medal playing as the FB and getting that kind of plaudit is a great result for him.

James Blanck (6 disposals, 5 tackles)

"It was a good opportunity for Blancky to play on an experienced AFL forward in Ben Brown and he did a really good job. Brown kicked an early goal on him, but after that I thought he did a good job. He smothered him with some one-on-one defence, was able to win a bit of his own ball and be proactive at times. It was pleasing for him to get his job done first and foremost."

Ben Brown finished with only 1 goal from the game - another good performance for the Blancket.

The thing that I most andmire about Blanck he has one of the most important ingredients as a classic FB …….. he is a competitor. He gets pissed if a goal gets kicked on him. He won’t get big numbers but he will scrap, niggle and keep fighting until the final siren no matter what the situation is which will hopefully spell a quiet day for the opposition big key forwards. Could be a very important player for the teams structure over the next decade!

He was borderline furious (in his own muted way) when Hogan(?) got a free kick for tripping himself.

Congrats to him - always puts a smile on the face when a mid-season rookie pick flourishes. They have had to work hard to earn the opportunity.

However, a one year extension does take you into the thinking of the coach and football department. They are clearly not convinced that he is our long term FB solution.

He will have to keep improving rapidly if he is to become our 10yr FB answer.

Shame about the concussion, was hoping he could create some strong momentum in these final few games after his best game for the Club at the weekend.
