Well whoda thunk it..that d1khed Barrett couldn't help himself by aligning with the body of work line in his sliding doors garbage (does he get paid for that crap he writes on AFL.com...I really hope not)

So what's Damo saying about your club? What's he saying about the AFL? Check it out.

Adelaide Crows

IF ...
Sholl shoulda been a shoo-in for the round 17 NAB Rising Star nomination after his 24-disposal, two-goal, 600m-plus gained performance against Carlton ...

THEN ...
I feel for him but at the same time get it that at this late stage of a season the judging panel opts for a body of work over a single performance. One way to do a Teddy Whitten and stick it up that panel would be for Sholl to back it up against the defending premier.
He did have a bet each way . . .

IF ...
Quaynor qualified for the 2020 Rising Star intake after a round 17 nomination ...

THEN ...
well done. It was a very sound match and followed other encouraging performances this year. Yet lined up against Sholl's performance in the same round, it seemed inferior. Winner if the body of work view, not necessarily the one-off game.

and if it had been sholl that had won the nomination, maybe the sliding doors comment would have been

If sholl wins the rising star nomination for the week

then

The entire system needs to be overhauled as he has not put in the body of work over the year

Collingwood have nominated Trey Rusco as their best first year player for the AFL Player's Association Awards. So disrespectful of Isaac Quaynor. It's disgusting to see a football club having a go at a kid after his rising star nomination. What a toxic club culture. SHAME!;)
So... Trey's only played 4 games this year (who has never featurd in the rising star discussions) was nominated over the 'body of work', 9 game, Round 17 Rising star nominee? Christ....

He finally got it!

Crows wingman Lachlan Sholl has earned the Round 18 AFL Rising Star nomination.

Sholl, 20, has been one of Adelaide’s strongest contributors over the past fortnight.

“It’s very cool to get these little bits of recognition,” Sholl said.

“I was rapt I was able to get an opportunity and experience AFL footy, and to know other people recognise what I’m doing is a really cool feeling.”

Sholl enjoyed a breakout game in his side’s win over Carlton in Round 17, arguably best on ground with 24 disposals, two goals, eight score involvements and 632 metres gained.

The second-year Crow backed up his performance in Round 18 with a solid outing against Richmond, registering 19 disposals, three clearances and five rebound 50s.

He said it was pleasing to know he could hold his own against this year’s premiership favourites.

“Their intensity, that was the biggest thing that stood out. They hunt the footy and they’re relentless,” Sholl said.

“It was a great experience playing against a side like Richmond that’s had a lot of success recently.”

Selected with pick No.64 in the 2018 National Draft, Sholl made his AFL debut in Round 10 this year and played the final eight games of Season 2020, impressing with his hard running and precision kicking on either foot.

He backed it up after last week. Not quite as brilliant but solid as a rock against much better oppo

So Lachie Sholl is one of the 18 kids selected as a rising star and misses the U22 AA squad...hmm

Seems to be.

Probably a year too early for Sholl, though if he hits 2021 at the same pace he finished 2020 at, he'll walk into that squad.

Really, all Sholl needs is a bit more strength and really fix that defensive game, and we could be talking about a player who could end up with multiple AAs if he stays confident and injury free. Hopefully he gets there.

Lachie seems to have the willingness to defend but is physically limited. If he can put on some extra muscle it'll help with those spoil attempts!

Congrat Lachie. Well deserved although it was a week late. Add more strength to your body and you will be one of our stars next year.
