While talking about midfield rotations it should be mentioned that, if Dick and Nicoski can get fit and play to their potential, along with Hill and Hams as small forwards, it is possible that we might see Le Cras rotating through the centre next season.

I wouldn't hold any hope of Franklin returning to Perth.
He's openly said he loves it in Melb (take that as you will).
I believe he has a clothing business in Melb and family too, think Melb life suits him pretty well, bought a house and everything.

Sharrod on the other hand was not as happy living in Melb, initially he enjoyed the change of scenery, but for the past year he's wanted to come home and was not enjoying himself as much.

Will Sharrod leaving Buddy change his thought process? I'd highly doubt it, Hawks will throw a lot of money his way and I'd rather we kept the salary space to keep hold of Gaff, Darling, Shuey, Scooter, Naita etc.

Honestly, as good as Franklin might be, we have a blazing forward line already. I don't know how much closer he'd take us to a premiership. A top-tier midfielder, on the other hand, just might.

Yep, Buddy is one of the top three players in the league and would make our forward line the undisputed best in the country, but what we'd have to give up for him would be enormous.

I think we should move heaven and earth to try and poach someone like a David Swallow.

without a doubt in his first season he would bring us closer to a premiership. That is if we could fit him into out salary cap.after that we would start feeling the sqeeze and would lose crucial players each season .not worth it in my opinion especially if Mcinnes can stand up in the next couple of seasons

I don't know why some are pinning their hopes on a player (McInnes) that hasn't even played a senior AFL game yet.

Be optimistic, sure, but it is far too early to already pencil him in for our 2014 premiership tilt. We shouldn't structure our trading and drafting based on McInnes coming good within a couple of years.

It's a moot point anyway, Buddy ain't going anywhere in my opinion, and if he did want to move back west it won't be to us. :(

but what happens if we made him a midfielder?

Isn't he 195cm or so? Bit tall for a midfielder although from what I've seen he is relatively mobile.

Buddy is 197cm. Can play Wing but I can't see him playing through the middle.

We are hardly banking on McInnes. A player who most have totally ignored in the best 22 thread and not without reason.

Darling, McInnes, Colledge and McGovern is some healthy depth of young talls and one is already grade.

People on this forum do seem a little fixated on securing mature age talent at the moment. Another KPF isn't a pressing concern and from the sounds of things Buddy isn't an option.

it probably would be a concern if darling or kennedy went down with injury and we have no proven back ups.Not saying we really need a recycled player now but can definately see why ppl would want buddy or any experienced KPF.And if we did get 1 it would allow one of the youngsters to develop more as a KPD

So where do we think / what role will Sharrod will end up playing?

My tip is rotating off a HFF with Shuey and playing on ball.

Not a bad rotation at all and both can kick goals.:thumbsu:

Would rather Shuey play mostly in the middle, i think he will share the midfield/HFF role with Masten

You can apply this thinking to any position. It's simply not viable for teams to do, even while in premiership mode.

I think one of them will end up as a KPD anyway.

He's a fantastic player, sad to see him go. He really wanted to be back home though. Can't argue with that. I think Collingwood has lost a valuable player, but we have filled that void with others. I hope that Wellingham can be everything he was for us, and better for you. Good Luck Sharrod.
I think you guys got a decent return for him, which must ease the pain!
