If I had to guess, it's probably due to hitting the jackpot on Trembath in the mid season draft.

Even still - Trembath is 193cm and has only 3 AFL games to his name. The Kangaroos believe in him so much they gave him a 1 year deal.

North Melbourne's goal scorers over 195cm in 2025:

Nick Larkey - 17 games - 198cm - 41 goals.
Finnbarr - 7 games - 197cm - 4 goals
Xerri - 20 games - 202cm - 4 goals.

Its a pretty baffling situation considering their list.

Heard their list manager interviewed in a grab say they were juggling by memory 4 players into 2 list spots or 5 into 3 of which Moose was one when “Adelaide presented him with a contract”
Sounded like he was still being considered despite all their talls.

John Butcher lite
Have you seen our forward entries? We manufacture a million high ball entries to about 20m out. A leaping pack splitting marker would be a major help, lest we use our rolls Royce thilthorpe as a bush bashing car. Then he's only got a get a few of those thru from 20, surely he can luck a few through!

The highlights look good.

Great contested mark and while he hardly has a laser kick, his technique seems adequate. Already miles ahead of the likes of ROB or the worst kick of all time, Paul Northeast.

Plenty of ordinary kicks have improved significantly with time and coaching to become deadeye dicks in front of goal - Scott Welsh, Brett Burton, Jay Schulz to name a few. Worth a shot.
Comparison on the Ian Perrie scale?

They have Taylor Goad, Callum Coleman-Jones, the 200cm Will Dawson who is quite capable as a chop out ruck all behind Tristan Xerri probably explains that.
He’s been around for awhile without doing much.

Got a feeling he'll be a good pick up. Had a taste of AFL with scope to improve. Cheap, low risk high reward. I think his profile fits the modern tall forward that will stand up in finals. One of the issues with our talls is they're unable to impact the game unless they kick a lot of goals and the pressure/follow up work doesn't stand up in finals. It's why we saw Sicily and Moore go on Tex and have a field day going off the chain as he can't provide any sort of forward pressure without the ball, nor provide a decent contest and turn those 30/70's into 50/50's in the air.

It'a why Mason Cox, while is a shit player is so effective for collingwood as he halves those contests in the air and brings it to ground level. In finals, the pressure is so high that a lot of forward 50 entries are contested situations and rarely clean ball. It's why the Jez Cameron style forwards are less effective in those big finals in my opinion. Maley seems to fit the modern prototype.

The comparisons with ROB’s kicking are outrageous- the two kicks in his highlight reel ROB lies awake at night praying he could achieve that level, then he performs quantum mathematics in his head to relax.

I think he is the type of guy who'll fit in really well. Seems like a top bloke on the socials.
Perhaps we can teach him how to kick? didn't work with Obrien. I dunno, what is it with these unco guys??
I know Finbar has worked tirelessly on his kicking .....the guy is a really hard worker

I do think people are overstating his kicking deficiencies .....yeah, it's not great, but it's also nowhere near ROB levels ....it's his goal kicking, which if you look at his highlights, shows it isn't disastrous

His career at NORTH was typical of a bigman .....2 years in VFL, and 7 games in a debut season ....and he improved with each AFL game, as he got the pace of the game
