In back to back years, both guns. Ended up with Martin and William for only a cost of money and can’t forget we drafted Kemp and Philp using the draft pick that GC wanted for Martin. I love GC trying to strong arm SOS and losing out badly.

It‘s a ripper outcome. I just love the thought that mid-season Kemp was discussed to go top 3. If he becomes the player we hope this would be an amazing haul over the last 18-months.

Those figures don’t equate to what Fox Sports are reporting.

The AFL is processing the paperwork and the Giants now have three days to decide if they want to match Carlton’s offer. Foxsports.com.aureports the deal is worth approximately $800,000 across six years, so $4.8m all up, with incentives that can drag that figure up to $900,000 per season.

But nonetheless glad we have got him.

But nonetheless glad we have got him.
If we really are tying up 4.8mil over 6 years we have just blown the cash stack we worked so hard to get and left minimal room for future recruits.

Awesome get. There has been a lot of talk about playing him through the midfield, will be interesting to see how much truth there is to that.

We have been waiting a while to make a real splash in free agency, may this be the first of many.

Do not care one iota what we are paying him - or more specifically what the media suggests we are paying him - they would not have a clue. And we can never win with them anyway - don't spend the money and it's "Carlton fail to land big fish via free agency"; spend the money and it's "I can't believe how much they're paying said big fish".

So he's getting -$1.7m ?? :)

Seriously though $700K for 5 years sound on the money.

Nup. Journos been seeing the first year and multiplying by length forgetting that savvy clubs frontload contracts these days for future maximim manuverability.

The media did the same with Atkins. Now you'll have Crows fans pissed about compensation when what they got is fair.

Helps the players cash in and invest early. Helps the club plan for the future easier. Also paying the most in what should be the player's peak years.
