Toast Welcome to Fremantle Neil Erasmus (pick 10 2021 AFL Draft)

He hasn't shown many good signs but at the same time, can you really expect him to develop if they're not giving him the adequate game time to do so? Last night was the first time that he has played the full game the whole season.

A player can't develop on an average of 15-20 minutes a week.

His decision making was below average, by the 3 qtr I swear our players were avoiding him and eagles didn’t pick him up at all and let him roam free. Knew if he got the ball they were getting it back. He needs to improve dramatically.

Looking like a blown pick at this stage, little to no awareness but like others have said... that's not really going to change with limited game time. He is way too slight to have any meaningful impact at this level, especially if he isn't reading the play like a top 10 pick should.

This is a guy that has been trained up to be an inside mid then gets selected in the Freo side as sub and is put forward. While the two teams play a similar style, it is different personnel. It must be difficult to come in under those circumstances and make a positive impact. We need to decide what our aims are this year. If it is a development year, play him with Freo. Otherwise, leave him at Peel.

I think this is right. He needs a run of 5-6 games somewhere. If we're looking to still make finals, it's a risk playing him in the firsts that long as he looks really lost. If we're going for development, play him. Despite last night, we should still be aiming for finals. Can't chuck it in after 6 rounds when you're 3 and 3. So play best available regardless. A 30 year old won the medal last night.

I really don't think he's a bust given he can clearly perform at the lower level and he's what, just turned 20 this year.

The problem seems to be adjusting to the step up in pace WAFL to AFL.

That, plus no clear best position outside of inside mid. Which is a bit odd because he was thought of as being able to play up forward a bit with one of his strengths being marking.

He clearly needs more time and, apart from situations like last night, having him as sub is clearly counterproductive to him actually being able to adjust to the pace of AFL.

The club probably needs to commit to a position for him at this stage and most of the year at Peel, unless one of Fyfe, Brayshaw or Serong goes down. In any case, prioritise him over JOM because we know JOM isn't getting any better.

I will be keen to know if he played any time forward for Peel at all, in previous weeks. Can't recall seeing him there. If he is going to rotate forward mid for Freo, he needs to play there for Peel surely.

Looking like a classic “ needs to move clubs “ player , goes somewhere they are looking for an extractor , hits the ground running with a few pre seasons under his belt , a fresh start with a coach showing a bit of faith builds his confidence yada yada

Sucks for us but we’ve had players like Clark for example in a similar boat

Yep he wasn't great but seriously dumping next week would do even more damage imo.

I would rather punt more experienced players and then throw Erasmus under the bus.

Let him get 3 or 4 weeks straight with a full game and see how he goes.

Being sub is doing more harm then good.

If he tries really, really, really hard he could be Ben Keays.

Warning: Never cream yourself over PSA footy highlights. It's daylight between the Vic schools and lower than colts.
Ben Keays is Carl Lewis compared to Neil. The boy from Hale is very one paced.
