DRAFTED FROM: Bendigo Pioneers

Josh Treacy is a key forward from Cohuna in Northern Victoria.

He had a strong bottom-age year for the Bendigo Pioneers in the NAB League last year, ending the season as the no.1 ranked bottom-age key forward, finishing fourth in Bendigo's best and fairest and earning selection in the Vic Country state hub.

Treacy is a fierce competitor. He relishes body contact and being physical in the contest, and he tackles with real aggression.

He is also a strong contested mark, taking the third most of all bottom-agers last year in the NAB League.

Treacy regularly hits the scoreboard, kicking the fifth most goals of bottom-agers last year, including a four-goal haul against Geelong in round 11.

He also has good speed, recording a 2.97 seconds 20m sprint time at the Vic Country combine.

The 18-year-old also has clear leadership attributes and was going to co-captain Bendigo in 2020 until Covid intervened, but being prevented from playing did not discourage him from continuing to work hard with characteristic intensity.

194cm and 94kg at 18 jfc

This guy stops growing at about 23. I make that about 195/6 and cracks the ton if he's up for some proper gym time.

that's a pretty scary and imposing prospect by the time he's getting regular games, should it pan out that way.

welcome, big lad.

How does someone like this drop to the rookie list?
No exposure due to C19.

Speaking of a bash-and-crash style he would not want to try that in the big league. There was a least one hit there that would cop a 1 week ban.

Also, according the Joose's Laws of Motion, for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. Therefore, if you crash a pack then you also get crashed.

This bloke looks like he has the skills to be better than this though.

Cox is listed at 195 now and was 193 when drafted. it would be nice if we get some of the same from Dick Treacy.

What about all those other campaigners that were drafted in the draft proper? Or were they being tracked at a much younger age?
It might be arguable that midfielders are able to compete against the older players earlier, so their performances in U18s when they were underaged look better than the key position players who might be growing still, both height and strength.

Especially if you're 189cm when you're 15/16 and 194cm by the time you're 18/19. Missing that year at "man sized" (no offense intended) would mean you miss your window to show what you have to offer.

Is this the red head we need to get a premiership?

I thought Tobe Watson might have been the key bloodnut

Haven't been this excited about a new player since young Sean Darcy joined the club.
Mark my words he is going to be a gun!

F**ck yeah!! POWER !!!!

After all the panicking about KPFs it's good to see us grab one. Maybe I'm biased, but probably a better option than Callow, Kolar, Baldwin and some other names floating around.

Can't wait for one of those guys getting crunched in the highlights video to be wearing blue and yellow.

Yeah, the hip & shoulder without eyes for the ball might get looked at.

What about the defensive closing speed for a unit that big!
