Nahh training is heavily focused on skills and transition both by hand and foot. Intras haven't had finn lineup on anyone in particular yet

Do you feel that we're developing him with a defensive midfielder's mindset, or he's just learning the role in case we need it down the track (mid game or for specific match-ups etc.)?

It’s interesting that Finn is being taught to tag which is something we very rarely ever do at afl level. Maybe is just being part of being defensive responsible (or maybe just improving his one on one ability) which we may have skipped on worpels development.

Hopefully is just a phase of his development and will round out his offensive game over time as his size, speed, tank should be a weapon.

He is learning the role its good to have a tagger he has the speed and endurance to succeed in this role and he will be dragged to the ball

Collier-Dawkins not mentioned in the Richmond VFL line up. I know a lot of Richmond supporters have been talking the kid up for a while so I'm assuming Finn did one hell of a job on him!
Would love to see Finn add tagging/nullifying into his gamestyle, would definitely add a point of difference for him in our midfield mix!

Finn is a strong big bodied mid with elite endurance which we are dying for. He just looks like he has the attitude and body to deal with the rigours of playing AFL.

They mentioned it this year and last that he needs to develop his defensive side. And they want him to have the flexibility to play other positions. He will get there. He will get a shot this year. Sounds like he is playing to instruction, which helps his cause immensely.

I like it alot.

Teaching Finn how to lock down on a mid does two things. It teaches him how to defend and he gets to learn how the best mids go about it.

Yeah that’s when he’ll be just about hitting his straps as a key backman.

He has struggled with some team structures. It is good to hear that Sam is happy with how he is progressing in his tagging role the last couple weeks. I don’t think a senior call up is imminent despite how poorly the midfield is tracking.

I only heard that one poster say it. Vfl reports don’t seem to pull any punches so I’m guessing they like how he is going.

The thing about Finn is that we know he can find the footy, take good grabs, and push forward and kick goals like he showed in his under 18 days. If he gets a crack in the senior side this year on the back of finding his defensive form as a tagger then we will have a fully rounded player ready to go. The optimist in me says once he gets his chance he doesn't lose it until he becomes a genuine gun mid for us.

He will. He has all the attributes required to be a great player. Elite endurance, quick , can take marks over head and find the goals. Doesn’t mind a tackle either.
