Very true...
But instead we traded them for someone who can't even get on the park...
Should have taken those magic beans...
Seriously though like previously stated I'm not saying we shouldn't have picked him up, but I do stand by my saying that we paid way too high a price...
Obviously time will tell if he's going to come good but even if he does we still payed massive overs which is undeniably true...
Anyway let's hope that the club doesn't play him until he's 110% because there's no point playing him otherwise...
I think it is pretty clear we just don't rate draft picks highly. I appreciate why supporters would and if omeara can't stay on the park then any price is too high from an absolutists point of view. From what I understand of the club, it would view the probability of getting a talent equal or better than omeara from the picks we used less than getting omeara. We won flags because our very best players were some of the greatest to have played the game. When games were on the line, hodge, Mitchell, rioli, Burgoyne and roughy were all thrown into the middle. What I believe the purpose of trading for omeara was the biggest chance of obtaining a player capable of emulating that kind of impact. These players are rare and the club obviously felt it could sacrifice a few foot soldiers (the likely outcome of all those picks) for a champion you can build a premiership side. Just have to wait and see how it goes but even cherry picking most drafts you don't find those kind of special players easily.
Edit: apologies, I didn't realise the age of the post I responded to. Wasn't trying to single out Cyriliffic or restart an old argument!
