He is also in the top 30 this season for:

Clearances
Disposals
Ground ball gets
Inside 50's
Pressure Acts
Tackles

When Mitchell comes back Coniglio may just be cream. We may drive up the price just so to squeeze out guys like Whitfield and Tarantino or to a lesser extent Hopper.

Worpel is also 5th for clangers and 7th in turnovers. This is due to the high intensity he plays and forcing turnovers on the opposition. Sometimes he has more time than he realises and just bombs it when he could just compose a second and look around. This will come with more confidence and time.

I remember Sammy when he first came was not the best kick. It's hard when you're in the clinches as a young player to adjust to the tempo of the game. But I knew we had something special with Sam. A few years later he became one of the best users in the AFL.

Just give him time and they'll wonder how Hawks stole the next Sam Mitchell.
Spot on. Kicking efficiency always suffers when you're winning the pill on the inside. A lot of quick kicks out of congestion.

As Clarko said, he's the silver lining to the Mitchell injury.

Hawthorn vs Fremantle
10 James Worpel (HAW)
8 Nat Fyfe (FRE)
4 Bradley Hill (FRE)
3 Ricky Henderson (HAW)
2 Ben Stratton (HAW)
2 Mitchell Lewis (HAW)
1 Ben McEvoy (HAW)

Now that’s stagnating. ;)

All I've been hearing in the media was that Fyfe was clearly the best player on the ground.

The two coaches thought otherwise.

Maybe coaches value a defensive side. when you take a way the impact by fyfes direct opponent, its not so flash.

Outrageous that a mid who would tower over dunstall and brereton and plays very phisically needs protection.

Maybe Ross can get one of his various hatchet men back as part time coach and give fyfe some training against a stopper

Edit, remember that time Hodge was being tested and had big Damien Monkhorst as a sparring opponent?

Bit of a comparison between Worps' and Fyfe's games...

Kicks: 21 vs 13
Handballs: 12 vs 11
Disposals: 33 vs 24
Contested 15 vs 16
Uncontested 18 vs 8
DE% both 66.7%
Clangers 4 vs 2
Marks 5 vs 6
Tackles 4 vs 8
1%ers 2 vs 1
Goals 0 vs 3
Time on ground 76% vs 86%

Both fantastic games. Clearly Fyfe spent more time forward, hence his ball numbers were lower, but goals and time on ground greater.

Amazing numbers for a bloke in his 2nd year.

Looks like Fyfe has stagnated though...
