Pretty sweet way to miss the point there Horse. And See how I'd grouped them as inside mids & wingmen?

And with another pre season into Scully after his injury he will able to run out games alot better.

was there any sort of explaination or article on what they classed as damaging vs not?

Possession chains resulting in scores.

So it pretty much means, if you're a Mid/Fwd or a Midfielder in a high scoring team you're going to be more 'damaging' than a Mid/Def or a Midfielder in a low scoring team. Worpel isn't a Mid/Fwd and he's in a poor scoring team.

The actual stats they are using
Most damaging midfielders:
  1. Dayne Zorko - 21.1 chains to 32.6 per cent scores
  2. Josh Kelly - 27.2 chains to 30.1 per cent scores
  3. Dayne Beams - 24.4 chains to 29.2 per cent scores
  4. Dion Prestia - 23.1 chains to 28.8 per cent scores
  5. Marcus Bontempelli - 26.6 chains to 28.5 per cent scores
Least damaging midfielders:
  1. Andrew Gaff - 28.7 chains to 14.4 per cent scores
  2. Clayton Oliver - 29.7 chains to 14.6 per cent scores
  3. Jack Redden - 20.8 chains to 15.1 per cent scores
  4. Reece Conca - 20.4 chains to 15.2 per cent scores
  5. James Worpel - 23.5 chains to 16.4 per cent scores

So Gaff who plays mid/wing and Worpel who play mid vs Zorko who plays mid/forward

Zorko averages 2.3 inside 50 tackles a game, Gaff has one all year and Worpel 4 all year

31% of Zorko's disposals are Inside 50s
12.6% of Gaffs disposals are Inside 50s
17% of Worpel's disposals are Inside 50s

Brisbane convert 40.6% of inside 50s into a score
West Coast convert 39.4% of inside 50s into a score
Hawks convert 37.6% of inside 50s into a score

CD sure do love to compare apples to oranges

Pretty much this, you can make up stats to prove anything - forfty percent of all people know that.

Zorko is honestly more of a Forward first at this point in Brisbane's development.

They sure do create some headlines using stats that suit themselves like comparing most damaging forwards - 2019
Buddy Franklin - 19 Goals
Tim Membrey - 21 Goals
CD "Membrey is the most damaging forward", *cough* *cough* despite the fact that buddy has played 3 less games

I actually reckon Worpel's year has been pretty underrated really. he's been shouldering a lot of the bullocking work for our midfield in just his second season. He's not exactly surrounded by talent in their either, with O'Meara also only being new to being the big banana in the midfield and Shiels having some injury issues and has been good in patches but also had his down games.

Look, he's far from the finished package, as shown by the fact we keep getting smacked at clearances and contested ball, but there is a lot to like about young Jimmy Worpel.

He as a second year player almost single handily dominated that Bombers midfield in the first half, slowed down but wow he is something special. A shame he is being forced to shoulder such a load but hopefully it can help him in the long term.

This guy is without a doubt our future captain. Must keep him at all costs.

Was the best leader on the field tonight which says some big things about the character of this young man and the lack of senior leaders at the club.

Would genuinely be a better captain than Stratton at this point in time.

This is accentuated by the fact he always rises to the occasion against our most hated of opponents - bombers and cats.

The Cripps effect haha

It’s well known worps needs to improve his tank. He has a quiet quarter at least each game.

He is younger and cheaper but performing to the level of much more expensive mids right now. Including a couple of ours. One example was Shiel last night, although Shiel would have had more of a tag

Imagine if you had those ten players on your list?

It looks like to me those guys get involved in a lot of Their teams possession chains which get inside 50.

But some teams convert better than others?
