Loads of players have shoulder surgery in the off-season. Some players get a shoulder done almost every year, I’m sure Mitch will be fine.

Probably the one player if right guarantees us a shot at the big one based on this year. The big one might be top eight, might be top 4 or it might be so much more.He goes ok.

Time to bump this thread.

After a pretty ordinary 2020 where he really struggled to shake the shoulder demons in his head, he's had a good start to 2021.

What I want to highlight is that there's far more hyped up young forwards in the game than Mitch, but he's performing quite ok in comparison, for a guy who's not exactly had silver service from the mids either.

Lewis’s last two games have been very good despite the limited opportunities.

Round 4: 14 disposals - 8 marks (5 contested) - 1 goal - 1 behind
Round 6: 14 disposals - 5 marks (2 contested) - 2 goals - 1 behind

That's pretty impressive considering some of those names on that list.
I'm really barracking for this guy to make it. I'd love to see that.

Lewis is a good contested mark so worth persisting with, it's just lots of other things he needs to improve.

Any reason you decided to leave Goals per game off that graph Strapping Young Lad ? Would look very good for Big H if that was added.
If you compare their peak performances over the years, Lewis' was as good as any young key forward. McKay has started this year off very well, but his performances previously weren't outstanding.

I made a comparison table similar to the one you quoted last year. McKay's performances this year would have him out ahead, but he's a year older than Lewis so we have to give him time.

McKay really has taken a huge step this year hasn't he, man mountain and so fast over 20 meters, 22 goals through 6 games is a massive start to the year by anyone's standards.

He's been good, managed to fix his awful goal kicking which is the main difference.

I think it helps to have strong key defenders to train against - for both. It makes McKay and Weitering both better players to be able to train against one of the most difficult opponents you'll get all season. I believe Rance made Riewoldt better also, and vice versa.

I felt goals per game would redirect the conversation, which it now has.

He’s having an impact without leading the goal kicking.

The point I was making is that Lewis is involved in games and taking as many contested marks as the more hyped young forwards in the game, and he has been undervalued.

Is taking the teams best defender, competing well and hauling down marks. Still has lots of room for improvement but we seem to function better with him in side as creates space for other forwards. Keen to see more of him in ruck as if he could take the hale role would allow us to play kosi and Jeka.

He's had quite good discipline so far as well. Drawn 5 free kicks and given away one. Only one other turnover from his three games. His ground ball pickups and Handballs in contested situations have been solid. Strong hands on the lead and his pressure acts are up this year. It's a really solid start for someone with his experience and if he gets some rhythm I'm sure a game will break open for him like it did for Kosi.

If he can be a long term 2 goal, 2 contested mark a game player with disposals pushing into the teens at his size, that's a solid B grade career CHF that will play 200+ games.
