Lightly built medium defender who showed strength and speed for South Australia in the 2019 NAB AFL Under-18 Championships averaging 18.8 disposals with 82 per cent efficiency and five marks. Progressing to Reserves level, he has been impressive with West Adelaide averaging 17.3 disposals in three matches. His Grandfather Robert Day was a star for West Adelaide, who won three best and fairest awards, played state football for South Australia and won a Premiership with Hawthorn in 1971.

The Hawks have bolsted their young defensive stocks by taking Will Day with Pick 13 in the 2019 NAB AFL Draft.

A West Adelaide product, Day is a skilful rebounding defender who boasts all-round athleticism.

The youngster has been praised throughout the year for his footy smarts.

Standing at 187cm, Day’s 2019 campaign saw him average 17.3 disposals and five marks for the Bloods, with his athleticism and kicking efficiency coming to the fore.

A former state baseball shortstop and ultra-talented sportsman, Will Day spent the majority of the 2019 season in defence across all grades and projects as a rebounding backman at AFL level.

I must say he sounds like a really good get
 
Very divisive pick when looking at where some rate him in some phantoms. Seen him rated as high as 9 and as low as 30-40.

Elite skills but definitely not 2020 ready. I like the pick though. Has massive upside.
