Sam says Blicavs…
No current season stats available
WTF are you on about he is pretty damn fast to be in the last 6 of grand final sprint and if the distance was increased to say 400m he would be killing that field. An extraordinary athlete for his size. A superstar of the competition in the makingLooks like he’s not as fast as been made out to be. That’s why it would be good to see what their 100m times are so we don’t have to believe all the BS.
Wot?Looks like he’s not as fast as been made out to be. That’s why it would be good to see what their 100m times are so we don’t have to believe all the BS.

I do and they look like plodders to me.Watch a game
It must be hard to understand for somedont be a moron
everybody knows that sprint performance in a 100m race on a hot grand final day is a greater way of demonstrating your speed in the AFL than actually demonstrating your speed in the afl
who is "they"I do and they look like plodders to me.
Weddle isn’t the fastest player in the league but he’s definitely towards the faster end.Looks like he’s not as fast as been made out to be. That’s why it would be good to see what their 100m times are so we don’t have to believe all the BS.
All true - he also has good lateral movement (which does not get you anywhere in a 100 metre sprint).Weddle isn’t the fastest player in the league but he’s definitely towards the faster end.
The big difference between him and the other speedsters though. Is he can sprint again, again and again. As others tire out he’s still producing near his top speed while others start to struggle.
In an AFL game this is vital as teams tire, especially towards the end of the year.
Exactly. Weddle has elite speed and endurance within a sport where repeated efforts are required for varying distances at a time over 2 hours of game time.Weddle isn’t the fastest player in the league but he’s definitely towards the faster end.

I was going to post this exact same thing! The polite thing now would be for you to delete yours so that I can.Weddle isn’t the fastest player in the league but he’s definitely towards the faster end.

He has high end repetitive speed .Looks like he’s not as fast as been made out to be. That’s why it would be good to see what their 100m times are so we don’t have to believe all the BS.
Max Holmes was the person we were going to pick and Geelong knew this and jumped in front of us to pick him up. We picked up Seamus insteadWeddle is an aerobic beast with good speed and massive endurance. An incredible combination for an AFL footballer. Most gun sprinters don’t have his endurance. Bailey Mac may even beat him in a sprint.
Max Holmes is of course a wonderful athlete also.
To further your point, Weddle is not a typical outside winger whose game is built around repeated running efforts, he gets involved in a lot of contested plays and can play tall and short.Exactly. The 100m sprint on GF day is a sideshow. A novelty event for neutrals.

A very unique player.
I think a good comparison for physical attributes, although I don’t envisage Weddle would play in the ruck.Adam Goodes like
And 90+ kg andAnd he is 6ft 3!
18yo who beat the likes of CJ, Finn, Moore in the time trial in his first pre-season.
I was more talking the way he moves. Geez I hope Sam doesn't read this thread and get any stupid ideas to play him in the ruck but then again just imagine how damaging he could be as an extra mid once the ball hit the ground. Yeah just joking you don't throw a Rolls Royce in the ruck.I think a good comparison for physical attributes, although I don’t envisage Weddle would play in the ruck.
Very much looking forward to monitoring his development and what roles he performs next year.
Although I doubt you'll hear the term "Australian of the year, Josh Weddle" any time soon.Adam Goodes like
