Very very different athletes, the work they put in at college is ridiculous - and don’t they usually test between 22-25 years old?
Yes, looks like he would have been about 21 at testing. Didn’t realise standing vertical jumps were of great importance for gridiron, thought it may have been more a basketball thing.
Just a small comparison in anycase.

always annoys me they don't do agility test on grass, but on those indoor gyms, completely different playing surfaces with far more issues

Almost every player on an NFL field is an athletic freak. Cornersbacks and safeties need to be able to sprint, turn around and jump high off two feet. Ditto for receivers. Some incredibly high leapers in the NFL, they don't get a heap of opportunities to showcase it. Plus, it's dangerous to get too high off the ground to catch a ball in the NFL. Potential for injury is massive given you can be hit on the way down (to complete a catch you have to 'survive the ground'. Basically means guys can throw themselves into you from anywhere to try and knock the ball free from you).

Very very different athletes, the work they put in at college is ridiculous - and don’t they usually test between 22-25 years old?

It's unreal the amount of player support there is in the strength and conditioning programs even at high school level. College is just ridiculous, so many staff you can hardly believe it.

Thought we overpaid to trade up on draft night but couldn’t be happier with the Weddle selection now…looks an absolute gun in the making
I thought we paid a lot at the time too - despite having faith he'd be a good player.

AFL.com have actually done a piece on it:

The interesting points are that given the Free agency compo and Kangaroos compensation package, that F2 we traded out has since drifted to pick #26 and the F3 we traded out managed to make its way back to us via the Ryan/Gunston trade.

So in hindsight, a trade we'd make again for sure.

Six decades of domination
26 + 27 + 47 equates to pick 7, which is more than fair value for Weddle.

On performance so far it would be;

1. Sheezel
2. Ashcroft (could swap these two)

3. Weddle/Michalanney (depends if you want someone who is better at rebounding or someone who is more defensively solid)
5. Wardlaw
6. Ginbey
7. Humphrey?

Every club is trading those picks for 7, it's worth way more. If we had pick 7 and traded it for 26, 27 and 47 everyone including me would melt!

No doubt. We traded those picks for pick 18 though to snag a player the club rated top 10/12. It was valued at 7 based on points, but even then the trade seems to have been amazing for us. It was a calculated move that you just love to see.

As you say though no team doing that trade in reverse.

Not sure what you're on about here, unless you were trying to inadvertently make my point.

I'm saying if we used pick 7 on Weddle we'd think it was a great selection.
I'm agreeing that Weddle was a steal but disagreeing that we paid the equivalent of pick 7 for him.
In points it's 7 but in reality it's 14 or 15
