Remember when posters didn't want us to trade for him because they didn't think he was any good (& that his back was ruined)?

Then, there were the other posters that thought we'd over-paid? (Current price using points as the calculator, we paid approx. Pick 25 🤣).

Ah, good times!

We essentially turned pick 14 (2024), our 2025 2nd and 3rd for

TB and Carlton's 2025 1st and 2nd and a 2025 4th round pick (Weagles).

It puts TB's value at the equivalent of pick 50 assuming Hawthorn/WCE and Carlton finish it current ladder positions.

I must be missing something because that is an incredibly lopsided outcome.

As an overall trade period we are looking good. The TB trade in isolation is about pick 6 in value based off my calcs of pick 14, 32, and 50 being our current projected based off finishing positions.
With pick 55 and TB coming to us. Values him about 1811 points, which is between pick 5 and 6.

Forgot about our future 1st.

I think from OUR perspective you are completely correct. Weagles fans probably have a different perspective because they don't look at the Carlton side of the trade at all.

Both can be true at the same time. Schrodinger trade.

Have you included that we gave away Pick 14 (or whatever) & currently hold Pick ~7?
That was a different trade with Carlton and pretty much unrelated as we could have kept and used 14 last year.

And still got Barrass with the trade of future picks.

Clearly we won the trade with Carlton. But that win shouldn't factor into an assesment on the trade for Barrass.

You can look at the whole trade period score and see Carlton were silly to give up their future 1st and 2nd for pick 14 when they should have known how cooked their list was.

This game and the one just gone against the Blues are precisely why we got TB. He's here to combat big bodied forwards like McKay and Thilthorpe. If he can nullify Thilthorpe it will be a significant factor in this match. Whatever people thought of the price we paid at the time, it has to provide us all with some confidence that we have a key back of this size and quality to match-up on the oppo forward line gorillas in games like these. Last year when Frost and Blanck were injured, we would have been asking Serong to do this job.
