Sounds like we were one of about 5 clubs that copped a decent virus .

Apparently he was pretty ill . No excuse as our opponant had the same issue.

We look so much better when Mitchell is the #1.

I can see why Sam is hesitant for us to keep playing Mitchell in that role as wins/losses aren't so important at this stage but he makes such a difference when he is played in the role he is meant to be played in.

He wasn't number one today. I don't even think he attended top 3 in center bounces by eye test.

Good return, but still too many indiscriminate kicks thrown onto the boot. At least spent more time handballing off to Nuke.

Was back to his brownlow best. Needs to play a significant midfield role alongside Newcombe.

JOM, Nash, Ward, Worpel and co can rotate around them.

If there is any clash between Mitchell and Worpel for a midfield role then there is only one obvious choice.

He had 20 contested touches and 9 clearances.

If he wasn't than it is an unreal effort.

Looked much better without Worpel and JOM eating up his space to operate in any case.

On CBAs yes, but he's still the Alpha and No1 mid for us.

28 to Lynch, 27 to Newcombe, 26 to Nash, 21 to Jaeger and 18 CBAs to Mitchell.

I think he had a great game but felt he wasn't used as a number 1 mid (outside of the first quarter). Winning contested ball around the ground doesn't necessarily change my view - which kinda sounds weird and contradictory lol. I think it just highlighted how good he was in congestion when the ball was in dispute.

I don't think you get it tho, Nash had more CBAs, but he's not close to as good as Titch is, more CBAs doesn't always mean you're a bigger more alpha player or your role isn't as the number one. Because he is, the number one is the ball winner, he is that. Duke is unreal and him and Titch link up so well.

I get it. My interpretation of what was initially said was Mitchell was used as the number 1 mid. I think he is our best mid but wasn't necessarily used as our #1. Hopefully that makes sense.

I think it is pretty clear this year that he isn't playing as our main midfielder to help aid in the development of other mids. Does that mean I think Nash is a better mid than Mitchell? No.

Titch's the no1 when he's at CBAs or near the ball. :)

I thought his value to us was stemming the bleeding at clearances around the ground. He was able to get his hands on the ball to stop lions walking it out.

His ball use was pretty poor though. Especially when compared to Neale. Neale was able to accept body contact and get the ball to a player in the clear. Mitchell didn’t have the ability to do that.

He’s still got his absolute determination to win the ball. But he’s definitely down on the other parts of his game.

Was his first game back after a break and the flu, wasn't expecting him to be that dominant anyway, he was and he'll only get better. Had a few iffy moments but had some absolutely sublime ones too, when he's playing like that or better we're a completely different side. He and Duke work so well together.
