Most people here seem to think our first pick is enough to get Dixon. There are a few who are saying our first pick and a player. I'm a bit the other way. I think our first pick should get us Dixon and something else, maybe a swap of second round picks. That way we end up with Dixon and a pick early in the second round, around 22? Not great in a draft widely expected to be shallow but players do slide.
Gold Coast end up with two first round picks and #29, still pretty good.
ive always said the same thing. I sk the question, is josh jenkins worth first rounder? Apparently people say that gorilla forwards are worth more. he is 100kg, 1.99cm and kicked 40 goals, took nearly 90 marks all in 20 games last year.

now i dont hink he is worth a pick 10, but that stats would stack up against dixons in most areas. So why is dixon worth so much more?

Because Jenkins is a pussy and Dixon actually causes problems for the opposition defence.

I agree, but atm Dixon's attraction still rests in his potential more so than his track record. One first round draft pick is adequate for him.
Dixon doesn't even need to play that well to be an important player for us. His size alone + our quick ball movement will cause problems. Just imagine him on the end of those long kicks forward instead of Neade or Monfries.

It's a once in a generation trade because decent key forwards almost never come up for trade and they never come to SA. Our first pick should get it done and that will be a win for us.

Jenkins is a fine second tall option, as stated he's hitting the scoreboard quite consistently over the past 2 years.
However anybody that knows AFL can see that Dixon is a far better player and competitor. A lot of Jenkins' goals come from Joe-the-goose style, or being able to run onto a ball out the back of a pack and outpace his opponent (as he is quite quick). While it's good that he can do that, that's not really what you have a 2m KPF for, you want him to take the big pack marks and command opposition attention, which is something that Jenkins just doesn't do.

Times the 'PSD and go **** themselves' fantasy plays out in the discussion of every trade on BigFooty: infinity + 1

Times the 'PSD and go **** themselves' strategy occurs in reality: Once every 5 years
It's more a threat than a reality. The threat of walking a player to the PSD is normally enough to eventually enable the incoming club to low ball the outgoing club. In the end, very few clubs are actually willing to have a Nick Stevens situation on their hands.

Don't forget I was comparing data... Not information. The stat's stack up equal for both players

Yep you're right mate, the only alternative to 'pick 10 or **** off' is to chuck in Ollie Wines. There is no room for professional people work through the possibilities to arrive at a reasonable outcome, you know, like every other trade we've done over the past 3 years. Our trade team is going to walk in there and like 5 year old and say - gimme gimme gimme, or I'll throw a tantrum! That's Essendon activity.

The funny thing is I agree that pick 10 is pretty much a fair deal, but I can see some steak knives being thrown in. Could be something like a pick upgrade or a player like Andrew Moore, with a pick coming back. Moorey could be included, you should be up and about! (Or maybe GC will be entirely happy with our first offer, it's possible.)

In sum, probably not something worth burning the club to the ground over if it eventuates?
Your funny, you talk About being professional and throwing in Andrew Moore ? How stupid do you think Gold Coast are. You can sit down and say Charlie has nominated to join us next year. We believe our first round draft pick is a fair deal for both us and Gold Coast. Charlie has had injury problems in the past and they are still a on going concern for both him and our club. We understand Charlie we need to be managed carefully to prolong his football career. Taking this into consideration we believe this is the best possible outcome for for all parties. Now we can say that or we can say take pick 10 or go **** yourself. At the end of the day they are both the same all you have done is danced around with some sweet words.

NUFC, YES.
i agree with PJ Power on this. Jenkins, i cant stand him, but he had a pretty good year. 46 goals from a second key forward is a decent effort

If we could get Dixon to kick that next year Port would be stoked
He made running out the back for cheapies an artform. Had he not been ignored by his teammates so often he could've kicked 65+.
