Peanuts were his undoing. Wiki doesn't do him justice. His swing bowling was Massie like and kept wicketkeeper B Jarman busy saving byes.
Although I never saw him play footy I think he was pretty special there too. A FF maybe not 100% on that.
He might have kicked 10 or more in a game.
He holds the equal record for most goals in a game at Adelaide oval

It's interesting to see that we're only rated 12th on the list of the best trades in the AFL website despite adding a star forward to our list and a former no. 4 draft pick for without paying overs and not losing one player. GWS on the other hand are rated highly gor adding a washed up Stevie J and watching a few of their stars leave.

I was lucky enough to spend a couple of hours chatting to Hawkeye in a pub near West tce in the mid 1980's, it was at a function run by the missus of a mate of mine.
He was a shell by then due to his physical ailments, but still a sensational bloke to talk to, mainly cricket stories, including going out with the current Miss Barbados during the 1965 tour of the Windies, and apparently she made the running. ;)

He kicked 10 for the Maggies ( all with drop punts ), which was a virtually unheard of kick in the mid 1950's, and got dropped the next week when Rexie Johns returned from injury.
Even 30 years later he was still dirty on that decision.

Edit
Neil Hawke kicked 15 goals in his 3rd senior game in Aug 1957 and was dropped 2 weeks later.
He played for East Perth in the WAFL, for two flags and close to 150 goals in less than 50 games.

So watching the charlie dixon highlights...

I got more excited at him in the ruck running through the mid...

Having him and ryder just swapping to save on rotations is almost unfair for the rest of the comp....
Thing is, he averaged about 2.6 goals a game for a bottom 4 team this year. Now he's (hopefully) playing in a top 4 team, that average can only rise, which is a scary proposition for opposition defenders.

The AFL is pissed off with us for getting Dixon, because it weakens Gold Coast and makes their certain premiership assault that much harder. We are a roadblock to the success of the expansion franchises and have the possibility of becoming the next dynasty if the club works hard enough.

The players are there.

The talent is there.

Dixon was the final piece.

I'd be happy to see a good spread eg Dixon/Schulz/Wingard 2-3 a game each, Hoff/Ryder 2-3 combined. Add in an R Gray cameo and a bigger haul from the mids than 2014 and we're set.

Mate, I know you love your crazy conspiracies but the AFL don't hate port for getting Dixon. Seriously.
Dixon can't melt steel beams.
