I dont think anyone should be under the illusion this isnt totally speculative. I do however fully support churning over the guys we simply know don't have it, and bringing in people we think are worth a punt for whatever reason. Keep turning over and you'll find a gem. Could also find nothing but poo, but atleast you are constantly turning over and taking chances as opposed to banging your head against the 13 year wall of stale Hinkley.

Joe Richards has surprised. At least this guy looks like he's eaten.

Carlton have taken our discards in recent years to fill small forward roles & re-signed Jesse Motlop are you sure you are not getting carried away with a highlights package?

His numbers make Jake Neade’s stats look impressive.

The future 2nd is the clear star of the swap here.

You'd imagine Berry, Richards & Cochrane are gonna get a fair run before Durdin gets a look in let alone be a Rioli replacement lol.
Richards should be a lock. Berry has played a lot of terrible football. Cochrane is top quality at SANFL level but we'll see how he comes back from his foot injury.

^this.

Change is so under rated at our club.

Anyone thats changed jobs a bunch knows the effect. You learn more in a year of a new job than several at an old one, the enthusiasm, the sparks that change can also bring, theyre just the intangibles that you just cant generate through stability. They dont equal success but at least they shake things up and we see if we can try a different peg than the round one in the square hole for a change.

I'd rather die trying than just accept close enough is good enough.

Get a John Cahill winning flags, then lock down for the long term, but dont hitch your wagon to failing coaches and squads.

Richards is a lock, the rest will battle it out for that small forward role. Berry and Durdin seem like high half forwards why Cochrane is closer to Rioli as that more pure crumming small forward.

As others intimated,.perhaps the players brought in aren't world beaters but have a larger work.ethic and professionalism? Who knows, Carr would have his reasons, its clear the wood cut has been attitude based players

Carr is trying to improve 15-30 on our list.

The players being brought in are more talented and/or more professional than those who have been shown the door.

Our top 15 are fine…we have a depth problem.
Some of our key posts are at best fringe players, which has been a critical issue for a long long time

When was the last kpp weve had as an AA? Tredders?

Forgot to mention 'drafted by port'

Our development of talls has been non existent for 20 years.

Dixon and Aliir were already full grown by the time they got here.
Does it matter if we draft them? As long as they’re AA while playing for us surely that’s all that matters.

I don’t think we lose out on anything by essentially skipping the 3-5 years of little to no in game production from a beanpole KPP as they fill out and get used to the role (as most KPPs tend to do with a few rare exceptions) in the hopes they one day pay dividends (which the vast majority of KPPs in this league don’t, because gun KPPs in general are rare).

As an aside, we’ve developed Georgiades, and Marshall in recent times - who are both great footballers when fit. Before them, Schulz was a nothing player for the Tiger before he came to Port, so you could argue we helped develop him into a good player.

Before him we had Tredrea, who we also developed. So not sure what the complaint really is - we haven’t really had any extended period in our AFL era without a good to great KPF on the list.

Yea it does matter you need a far better rate of development from the draft with talls than we've mustered, my biggest gripe has been the unwillingness to draft young KPD's in the first round for a gazillion years.

As a Carlton fanatic, I am genuinely sorry to see Corey Durdin go, he is a terrific bloke who is very caring of his special needs sister and also a great club man

Yes consistency has been a problem of his, but I think playing home back in his native South Australia and closer to his family will help a lot. He has jagged a lot of really jammy goals for The Blues in his time at Carlton

I genuinely think he will be a surprising cult figure delight for Port (like Frankie Evans for us)

I think Josh Carr will bring out the best in 'Tyler'

I will always be a fan of his and wish him all the best at Alberton.
