His kick passing was pretty good. Not up to the speed of the game, so give him time.

I think he definitely has potential. It was very obvious he is so new to the game plan and the team however. He was caught out of position in defence multiple times.

Not his fault at all, only been training with us for 2 weeks and first game with the AFL side.

It's really not the first mid-season drafts were held in the early 90's before it was scrapped, the clubs want it the media just cover anything AFL to death it's unavoidable.

There's nothing wrong with it, it's another avenue for players to make it & clubs with list/injury issues to plug some holes.

The clubs want it to cover up their list management errors. The league is happy to oblige given the media interest it generates. Personally I would scrap it.

Pickett (?) playing for Richmond in a grand final after being recruited mid-season made for a nice story (particularly for him - but what about the bloke that missed out?) but was yet another nail in the coffin of league integrity.

Seriously, Jackson had a better game when he played his full game the week prior. Had more impact & kicked a goal.
Dropped to sub following week.
Hard to work out what they'll do with Liddy this week. He might be saved by injury.

Who gives a shit it's all pathways to the AFL & there are blokes every year that miss selection in GF's regardless of whether their clubs used the mid-season draft or not.

I think the list sizes are too small to allow decent coverage for injuries, particularly for ruck and key position injuries when they are affected. List sizes used to be 46 (main and rookies) plus category B rookies once. I'd prefer that to the mid-season draft but the state leagues would complain that that eats into the pool of players available for them. Given that state leagues will complain anyway, its less disruptive to have bigger lists to start with.

Bloody hell the guy has never played an AFL game, have you watched an SANFL game lately it is several levels down from the AFL not to mention he has never played with those team mates before I thought he did bloody well for the time he got.

Hence why I wasn't super critical, all I said was he seemed a touch slow. When you bring in blokes like this you have to give them 3 to 5 games to see how they adapt and are worth persistenting with. Same as Hugh Jackson.

Don't think we're mates. Alright I'm proud of Mani and happy for him. Not happy for you or your club, if he had to be drafted then I wish it had been any of the 16 non SA clubs.

It's outrageous that you can just take a player from us in midseason. You've ruined our team and possibly our season.

Then you expect us to bend over, take it and say thank you and to be happy about it.
