As soon as he came on the field and failed to trail Petracca through a contest I knew he wouldn't make it (for legal reasons this is sarcasm)

From the article on Port's website.

For Liddy, the leg sleeve was born out of necessity, rather than a fashion choice, although a love of NBA encouraged him to take the plunge.

“I get them from Temu – three for $40! They’re not the best quality but they do the trick. Maybe I need a Skins sponsorship,” he laughed.

“We tried strapping it and that was way too uncomfortable, because it was rubbing on the back of my leg. .... “Because the skin's really thin (on the scar), whenever I fall on it without the sleeve, it just splits open and bleeds. So I wore it at training, and I fell on it a few times, and I lifted it up to check if it split, and it hadn’t. So it's the best solution, and it's working.

Maybe the club can get him that Skins sponsorship if he keeps playing in the AFL side.

Interestingly this bit from the article on the AFL website is omitted from the article on the club website.

"I wouldn't change this path for anything," he said. "I think going and getting an apprenticeship and learning what it's like to actually earn your wage makes me appreciate the AFL lifestyle and the money that you're on just for playing footy, really. I wouldn't have it any other way."

It's a very refreshing attitude and one that would jar with the entitled in it for the good times and the social life attitude encouraged at the club.

I reckon there are plenty of 21-24 year olds who have experienced life and are good enough to be AFL footballers, are late bloomers and given the chance to be a fulltime pro, would grab it with both hands and do well.

Stephen Wells at Geelong has a 30 year history of finding these sort of blokes, especially from the WAFL and local Geelong league or country leagues close to Geelong.

One of the very few who could hold his head up. 17 disposals in a poor side in only his second game with no AFL pre season. Makes smart decisions and never shirks.

Had a good second half, but seems a little confused with the game plan. He deserves a pre-season and see where it takes him. Off topic, but what was supposed to do regarding the 50 metre penalty?

He seems confused with game plan?

Can't blame him he's come from a strategically competent, well organised environment at centrals into 'we'll just let the boys play, I reckon' hinkleyball
