There will possibly be two players - Todd and Tom - on the long-termed injury list. We may be able to at least snag Jack Watkins on the MSD.
getting Watkins would add to our midfield depth

(I think he would jump Mead in the midfield Depth)

and I am sure Butters will enjoy playing in the same footy team as his mate

I think to get a mid season pick, the long term injury has to be ruled as season ending.

Todd's achilles isnt officially season ending yet, but will be near impossible to play this year. Not sure if Tom's injury is season ending.

Can't think of any examples of the AFL refusing an application for Inactive List. So long as the player agrees, you're ok. There's even a process for a player to come off the Inactive List and play again same season.

I believe this is correct. Although I'm not sure about coming off the list and playing again in the same season. But if Marshall agrees, he can be put on LTI list.

it wouldnt be lisfrank, because they said 'stress fracture'
You are misinformed!

"Lisfranc" refers to injuries in the Lisfranc group of bones in the midfoot, and refers not to ONE injury, but to a range of injuries that can occur in that area. So a Lisfranc injury can involve soft tissue damage, ligament tears or strains, and bone fractures or even dislocations.

I suffered a bad Lisfranc injury in my years playing soccer as young fella. It was a real bugger, and would reoccur over the years, causing real pain in the foot arch, making it hard to push off into a run.

Tom has had this on the past too they say, so will see. I can't be dogmatic, but what they describe here fits with Lisfranc.

If it needs surgery and pinning then might as well put him in cotton wool for the rest of year. Even with a minor stress fracture , his previous history would suggest 4 plus months with a very graduated return to training. Being a kid, Id just write the year off, needs extended time if he is a chance to get it right for the longer term.
