POSITION: Midfielder/Defender

SNAPSHOT: "A smooth-moving half-back who can roll through the midfield, Banks is a great decision maker with pinpoint kicking."

Sam Banks has been a highly-touted Tasmanian prospect for a number of years now since winning the Most Valuable Player (MVP) Award for the Division 2 carnival at the 2019 AFL Under 16 Championships. Banks was a clear star for the Devils, and whilst the past two years have been tough on the Clarence ball-winner, he is a player who remains capable of being a really damaging asset when given the opportunity. With the right development, Banks is a player who in the future, could defy what is looming as a mid-to-late draft selection.

STRENGTHS:

Kicking
Decision making
Athleticism
Upside
Rebounding

IMPROVEMENTS:

Inside game
Defensive pressure

Was liking this kid for a rookie spot if he got through so happy to back the recruiters in with them taking him here. Like that he has a bit of height about him at 187cm and already looks to have a bit of Shane Tuck wiry build about him so a bit of time in the gym should see him end up a solid player.

He did this two weeks after his sixteen birthday :)

Sam is really highly rated on the Apple Isle.
He was Tasmanian captain at all levels (Under 12’s, 15’s, 16’s and 18’s).

I think he may have gone under the radar of many clubs.
If that's true, it looks like we have snared a great prospect. You cannot be a dud if you have captained your state so many times!

Ok, putting you on the spot here, but without injury how high do you think he could have gone?
It’s really hard to say mate. Definitely think he could have pushed top 20 with a full season. Has a lot of great traits but also has amazing leadership credentials which a lot of clubs look for nowadays
