At Hampton State/Primary it wasn’t St Kilda rich. I was also early to mid 70s and I seem to remember a lot of Richmond jumpers. North, South even. Fitzroy and Essendon. Sandy jumpers.Same here. I went to primary school at St.Agnes in Highett. Lots of sainters, hardly any opposition. This was the early to mid 70s, when our club was still feared and a regular finalist.
I didn't stand a chance, did I? I remember after I'd finished crying when we lost in 1971, my neighbour, a fanatical saint, assured me we'd win another one soon. He said winning a flag was the greatest feeling in the world and I'd be sure to experience many more.
I'm still waiting, of course. I should sue the bastard for breach of promise.
No one, not even the purple knobhead, can accuse us of being fickle or disloyal as supporters. We've all won our shields the hard way.i came in about a decade later and still 6 years of misery
period there from 77 onwards that was terrible, a big span of bugger all games won in all
seasons with 3 6 4 5 9 wines from 22

I miss hearing people talk about making the five.At Hampton State/Primary it wasn’t St Kilda rich. I was also early to mid 70s and I seem to remember a lot of Richmond jumpers. North, South even. Fitzroy and Essendon. Sandy jumpers.
1974 was when we Grade fivers would be considered the ‘biggies’ .. But just as we felt big, St Kilda slid into terminal decline, finishing 10th in a 12 team comp not good! Lost six out of the last seven games! See, I got my St Kilda jumper in ‘74 and was so proud. Damn.
Massive improvement in ‘75 but missed the five.
1976 9th
1977 spoon
1978 bi-polar disorder season
……next is 1991
By then I am supporter with ‘character’. And a very dark sense of humour.

What a celebration it will be when we finally break through! I just hope I'm still around to see it.
Just my luck it will be in more than ten years time when I'll be a resident of "The Twighlight Years" maximum security home for the aged. My celebration, if I'm still able, will probably involve watching the replay, in my wheelchair, a blanket over my knees, sucking a blend of two fruits and custard through a straw.
Hope to see you there, Saint Watto, Popped Corn and SG34. We've earned the right the hard way.
Our Jack stocks bolstered once again
It's a tough one. We'll have the Zebs player, maybe Hotton and maybe Crazy all potentially non viable players for different reasons.**** I hope we give Crazy another year.
That's what I had heard about him. Big accumulator, but not damaging. I was looking for it, and other than the very odd time where that may be the case, he pretty much makes the "right" decision every time. He's been great so far for us...and desperately needed.A lot of opposition supporters used to say that Macrae wasn't damaging with his disposals but he has elite vision and most of his inside 50 entries are quality - would have been very handy for us on Friday night. You got a steal in getting him

Absolutely delighted to see Jack back to his best. Gutted it’s not with the Dogs, mind you. Would have loved him in the team on Friday night instead of Sanders. Can’t believe we pushed him out, even if he was on big money.
The whole ‘not damaging enough’ argument has never had any legs. He gets the ball to a teammate in a better position. That is worth more than blazing a 50m kick to a contest.
Wonderful lad to have around the club, too. Surely a great role model for the younger players.
Congrats on a great win.
Yeah, he’s unreal. We’ve got a gem there.Congrats on the best young talent in the game in Darcy
Kid is something else
Bloke will be 31 at the end of the year and as far as I can tell has never really been injured.Always have had a soft spot for Jack. Nearly always in my Fantasy/ SC teams. Even last year when the going was rough for him.
I used to look at Macrae and rue the fact that we had no one like him. Where was our classy high accumulator? Can we recruit someone like that?
So I can’t quite believe we now have the genuine article. Albeit in the twilight of his career. Although he might be someone who goes on and on. Very durable.
Just a great performance against the Cats. And he is back on my VC/C roster in the Fantasy games. Wish he was my Captain yesterday!
