Dawson has been part of the SUNS Academy since the age of 13 and showed solid form at NEAFL level in 2017, earning a Rising Star nomination in the final round of the season.

The nomination came after the 18-year old went head to head with GWS midfielder Jacob Hopper, gathering 24 disposals and 10 clearances.

The inside-midfielder possesses really good hands in close at the stoppages and was also part of the Allies U18s squad alongside a number of SUNS Academy teammates.

In addition to his strong form during the Academy series, Dawson was also named among the best in Palm Beach-Currumbin’s 2017 QAFL premiership win.

What are the knocks on this guy? Seems to have played some decent NEAFL games and also played well in the carnival, yet no one seems to rate him very highly?

No knocks , Jacob is a workhorse so probally does''nt get the attention of the flashier types , i can see him getting games next season if some of our mids go down injured , but he had some huge games stats wise in NEAFL and if he can tanslate that to AFL he can have a career .
