It’s 100% true they were in a Perth beachside cafe together yesterday at lunch time. I was only in partial earshot and wasn’t trying to stalk, so I don’t know the full extent of their conversation, although I couldn’t help but overhear an occasional snippet.

There’s no real basis to assume anything from it, pure conjecture about a coaching gig - i was curious if anyone here knew what cotchins up to atm?. I can confirm they were talking football.

Did a quick google

Currently he’s working with the Brisbane Lions and Melbourne Storm mentoring players in their leadership groups which sounds like a part time role

Beyond that he has some private business stuff including owning a Pilates studio with his wife

Most recently he’s also been on Dancing with the Stars

Has three young daughters around primary school age so I’d suggest he’d be reluctant to move from Melbourne to Perth on an assistant coach’s salary when he’d walk into any Melbourne club if he expressed an interest in becoming a coach

Maybe Mini is talking to him about doing a similar thing with us that he’s doing with Brisbane but we already have Harry Taylor working in a leadership mentoring role

Yeah makes sense for the leadership role.

Harry might be getting a promotion to a line coach?

Good info, based on that and what little I did hear maybe mini is just chasing his leadership consulting skills as a mate. We are lacking in that area atm obviously. There was a formality to it though, mini had an iPad. Wonder why cotch was in Perth.

Might have come to Optus to watch his mates flog us

"I want in and under slow ball winning midfielders"
"How about wingers, we are short on wingers"
"Oh for the wing. For the wing i want you to draft me a in and under slow ball winning midfielder"
Considering how few genuine midfielders we drafted during his tenure it was probably more like, I either want tall blokes or half back flankers, we can just turn them into midfielders anyway

Relax.

Winning the contested ball is over-rated. Gov will just clunk it and send it back our way.

Such a hard one to gauge, given what he's got to work with and everything he's inherited from the former coach.

Perspective is needed, but deary me it's hard not to take potshots at his coaching method, given the horrid season we've had the unfortunate pleasure to sit through.

Some match committee decisions for team selection and general player management on Gross and Bo Allan also spring to mind.

Liked the adjustment from slow build up kick to Gawn, to that early third where we used the switch very effectively.

I think he’s got a brain and no cattle. Will be interesting to see if we can put in a fight for him early enough for him to actually build something before the pressure mounts.

players are not improving this year thats on Mini

still has time but we can't put up with this shit again next year

we need to see improvement
There has been improvement.

We just have a lot of role players and not much in the way of high end talent.

maybe but we are not winning games

we can't continue going down this path..

we need to see improvement next year and thats wins

I like mini but at the end of the day results is all that matters

this trade off season is massive for the club and the AFL in general .....the AFL can't afford the eagles being shit

We're not winning games because we don't have a midfield due to poor drafting, Yeo being dead and Kelly falling off a cliff.

Then there's the fact our 2 KPFs are first and second year players.

Clubs will look plenty of other metrics during a rebuild than the W/L column. Wins and losses are what fans care about most but clubs will look at statistics in game to ensure they are headed in the right direction. If we won the Essendon, Richmond and North games we were close in, we'd be on 4 wins but ultimately, the state the team is in would be exactly the same as it is today and wouldn't make much, if any, impact on the club's plans for the next few years.

Another preseason into the kids will mean they'll be bigger, stronger and fitter and will be able to get closer to properly running out 4 quarters, as well as hold their own in contests.
