He was on 5AA friday after 5pm. Rowey who is a crumpet face in his own right and Bickley who is actually intelligent and balanced asked him about the Brownlow once and Mitchell said "sorry the line broke up right then" they rolled with it the ribbed him up about his phone connection at the end of the interview.
Perfect banter.

They should run the audio through a compressor/limiter before publishing!

I've always been mystified by the level of hate from opposition fans towards Mitchell. Fair enough, hate on someone because they're too good and play hard, that's footy, but he's always copped way more than he ever dished out. I laugh when I read posts describing Mitchell as a sniper. Relentlessly targeted by opponents - constantly jostled, scragged, elbowed and punched - but never looked after by the umps like Ablett, nor squealing like Selwood. So he occasionally dishes out some of his own..? Big deal! AFL footy is a tough game. People are so selective in what they choose to see (turning a blind eye to the sniping from their own players)
From his very first season, Mitchell has been the ultimate professional who has never stopped trying to improve - a tough little cookie who has made himself one of the all time greats. What's to hate? People say he is smug, a smart-arse, etc. I think half of that is just his facial expression. He looks like a smart-arse, like he's laughing on the inside while smiling.
As for all this crap I've read about him from opposition fans here on Big Footy, that he's a "shit bloke" who is unliked by his team-mates, I've never heard anything that would support this. Just dumbasses talking shit on the internet. Every Hawk fan I know who has met him, asked for autographs or a photo, has nothing but good things to say about him.
Anyway, I'm sad he's no longer with us, but I really hope he plays well for you guys. I'd hate to see him struggle and be singled out for Priddis-style abuse from Eagles fans. I hope people's expectations aren't too unreasonable. He is 34 years old! And it's not like you've given up anything to get him across to your club..
