Runs both ways. Has speed, tidy skills, good overhead, tough. Looks like a genuine balanced midfielder.

Some players you can tell don't have it straight away, others you can see immediately they'll be comfortable at the top level. Gross is the latter.

#1 Eagle for clearances and score involvements.

19 CBAs on debut, pure mid. Just keep playing him, finding a startable mid with pick 46 is program changing stuff so let’s set him up for every chance.

That was a great debut and something uplifting for us fans.
He may need a stint in the WAFL later in the year, but for the foreseeable future he’s gotta be in the team.

There is no chance in the universe he would've gotten the opportunity in the middle if it was last year.

Great debut by Gross adapted to the level seamlessly in one of the hardest positions to play for a rookie ..The kid has a good skills and footy smarts plus is very competitive nature , definitely a steal at Pick 46 ..
I’m looking fwd to watching him grow as a player ..

From watching Grossy in training scratchy's take it up to our mids (very low bar I know), to BOG performance in WAFL praccie, to earning a spot with a solid ass debut.

17D 1.1 on 71% TOG against a finals hardened side, we've found one. Hope he cements his spot, has a consistent year, and becomes a core part of our paper thin midfield lineup.

Very impressive debut.

One of the things that has impressed me, since he arrived at West Coast, is that at every higher level that he has been exposed to, he has stepped up.

That tells me two things:

1. That he has the capacity to further grow his game and still has lots of improvement left in his game.
2. That he is a quick learner that has a high footy IQ.

Both these attributes I rate highly in assessing young talent.

The fact that he is a hard worker and backs himself in to take on the contest, is the cherry on the top.
A natural hunger for the contest is a commodity that can also overcome a gap in talent, ( not suggesting that he lacks talent by the way ) as desire in something that can't be taught - you either have it or you don't.

Talent when coupled with, hard arsed desire, more often than not, delivers a quality player with a long future in the game.

I think we just may have found ourself a good footballer with Tommy Gross. :thumbsu:
