Do we (The Swans) really have to give up out top pick for Mitchell? I'm not suggesting he's not worth it, but reading a column in the Melbourne Herald Sun (taken from The Geelong Advertiser), the Cats look like picking up Jed Bews under the father son rule with their last choice in the draft.

Given that other AFL clubs already know that Mitchell is going to the Swans, is there a chance that they wont try to select him, allowing us to select him with a later pick?

Making a slight twist here, but if Jed Bews is so good (as the Cats think he is), could well be worth going after ourselves with a later pick.

From the article above, "Falcons regional manager Michael Turner said Bews was a different player to his father, who made his name as a tenacious rover.
"He's got his dad's lateral movements because Andrew was always ducking and weaving out of packs, but Jed's a lot taller, he's got a good vertical leap and he's super quick," Turner said.
"He's got a lot of things going for him. I see him, well down the track, as a perfect replacement for Corey Enright."

Any player compareable to Corey Enright is worth looking at. And having another player at the Swans named Jed wouldnt be bad!!!

We have officially nominated to take him as father-son, had to be done by 5pm today. Article I read also said that GWS can't bid for the father-sons and that Mitchell missed the draft combine with a sore knee.

That is correct, GWS cannot bid, same as the Gold Coast last year. And we will definitely have to sacrifice our 1st round pick, which doesn't bother me considering how badly we have butchered it in previous years.

Yes, because haviong Barry Mitchell living/working in Melbourne is definitely how we managed to convince Tom to come to Sydney...
