Welcome: Which games do you have or want?

Latest arrivals. Wife picked up Honey Buzz. Also Spirits of the Forest and expansion Moonlight arrived today. Damn COVID, piling up new games needing playing even more than usual at the moment.

We finally cleared all but one of the games in our backlog. Just Western Legends to go until we get a delivery due this week, hopefully, in MOB: The Big Apple and Duffers. I have gone cold on that publisher after some unsavoury news about their behaviour, but am still keen for the games.

Been tracking plays on the BG stats app. We’ve played 64 games across 148 plays so far this year. Going to have to keep it up if we are to get everything played Once the KS glut comes in.

Villagers with Shifting seasons expansion is the one more looking forward to playing.

Wife’s Garden Wars Kickstarter arrived. Small quick card game. A bit different in size from my next expected delivery.

From a tiny game to 2 big boxes. Chronicles of Drunagor arrived (except for the new expansion stuff that is end of year or early next). A couple more games to arrive soon, then it'll be time for an updated Shelfie.

So Im feeling like I need a Lord of the Rings type game. 2 obvious choices are War of the Ring and Lord of the Ring Card Game (Revised).

Anyone have both ?

The card game I think has a LOT of expansions which will cost $$$ but does War of the Ring?

Im also getting Western Legends but there isnt an a or b choice there.

War of the Ring is great - heavyish to get into, but very thematic. Great two player game for fans of the lore.

Love Western Legends, one of my favourites. Also really thematic.

War of the Ring says 2 to 4 players but looks best for 2.

Do you end up having 2 players per faction sharing duties or is there 4 legit different roles to play ?

Also are the expansions or extras ?

I’ve only played it 2 player, so not sure how it works with more. To me it’s a 2 player game.

Looking at the game now I assume its 2 teams of 2 for decision making.

Will be playing this weekend. Looks epic.

Out of those you listed, Dominion definitely condenses down well to a 2 player game, Forbidden Island is pretty good as well for a cooperative game in the same vein as Pandemic.
As a recommendation: My wife and I have always enjoyed Splendor as two players.

Forbidden Island, Forbidden Desert and Horrified are great co-op games.

Coatl is good if you like Azul.

Have Forbidden Island and Everdell and both play well as 2 players. Forbidden Island is good for a quick game, when you don't want to think too hard. Everdell is medium weight (though gets heavier if you add in the expansions) and enjoyable. If you're going to play it 2 player though expect to piss the other player off, if you win by playing the Fool into their town.

So I bought Mage Knight Unlimited. Just the box is daunting.

Actually playing it will be something else.

I was actually sent 2 copies by mistake so need to return one of them which is annoying.



That is Lanzerath Ridge in the background. Another game I need to play at some point.

Has anyone looked at ASL Starter Kit ?

Ive always been fascinated by ASL but never played it. Does SK replicate the game in a meaningful way?

Do you need to broaden out and get more of the starter kits ?
