Imagine a random nobody like O'Neil having a 9 min highlights package.

Gee whiz, you get A graders who've played 250 games that don't get packages that long. As DJM said, it's quite odd.

Especially when it'll be 15 seconds of him laying 1 average tackle, or getting an innefective clearance turnover.

This bloke along with Foley and Bailey Williams from the same draft is the the perfect example of a football department that can't admit failure. They're all in their 5th season. It was a poor draft year, but there's no need to throw good money after bad and persist with these blokes. They're not AFL standard and would all be delisted at every other club.

BBBW has played some good games this year. I don’t think he’s a failure.

Game of inches, but both James Rowbottom and Tom Sparrow were taken in between our original pick in this draft and the one we swapped with Sydney (a three pick downgrade in the second round).

One has played in a flag and just racked up 110 SuperCoach points against Freo, and the other has played 80 games, averaging 5 clearances and 8 tackles.

Pretty sure XON was considered a rookie sort of pick pre-draft, but can’t remember where the other two were ranked at the time

Yeah he is. Undersized so has to have some other standout attributes. We could have Rookie listed a WAFL ruckman last year who'd have been able to do what he's done this year for much cheaper.

We tried that last year. How'd that go?

XON always seemed like a weird pick. He wasn't even featuring in mock drafts. We were probably thinking we were smart picking up a player that missed out on the u18's and wasn't noticed much by the other teams.

Yep trying to be too clever as usual . Just like the chesser pick when there was obvious options like Hobbs, sheldrik, van rooyen and Johnson.

Chesser will end up like a less durable duggan . Failed to transition to a mid and end up a solid HBF when we need genuine mids.

Saying that the chesser pick you do have to factor in we also got Burgeil with the pick slide .

I can see why they took a punt with XON given the pick they had to work with. Has some decent physical traits and were probably hoping he'd develop more of an inside game. Seems he didnt really get there though. Delist and move on. No point crying about it its not like he was a top 10 pick or anything.

It was around pick 40 from memory. Probably a long shot to nab an afl quality midfielder at this pick

I have no idea what anyone would consider O'Neill's strength.

I had considered it to be skills previously, but he has burnt so many of late that I have thrown that away.

He needs to be able to do one things really well.

He doesn't have it.

Pick 28.

It was our first pick in the draft. Our original first rounder was traded to GC the year prior.

However we received an end of first round compo pick for losing Lycett, which was pick 23 after all of the NGA/academy picks pushed it back.

We then live-traded that pick to Gold Coast during the draft, which moved us down to pick 28. We took XON.

Players taken between 23-28:
Jez McLennan
Bobby Hill
James Rowbottom
Rhylee West (f/s)
Tom Sparrow
