List Mgmt. Welcome Zane Trew (Pick 20, 2023 Rookie Draft)

He and Winder can't be any worse than the other blokes who are keeping them out. Foley, O'Niell, LEdwards etc.

L.Edwards will make it.

Doesn't have the very first quick step of his old man and yes he should have worked that out by now, but it will click.

He was good early I thought. Faded a bit later, but there’s something to work with if he can get a full preseason under his belt without the interruptions that have dogged his career to date

One of those players I won’t be upset if he gets cut but also wouldn’t mind if he stays. One of the rare midfielders on the list that has proper inside craft. With the young high end mids it would be nice to have a priddis type that can feed them and allow the likes of Ginbey and Hewett to bethe first recievers on the move.

Yes because we won so many flags with the priddis type that gets left behind and us a man down in a turnover.

Have a look at the lengths carlton go to to hide cripps’ lack of pace - they wont win a flag with him in the midfield. The game today needs pace. Pace.. and more pace.

Turtles left behind on the fast break = easy goals to the opposition.

Priddis type= extractor. While young trew isn’t a speed demon, he is far from cripps/priddis level slowness

Trew is better. There won't be a place for L.Edwards to get a look in past next year.

Trew looks pretty slick and handy in the highlights, but then most players do?
Surely he's sticking around though, has something to build on, with right coaching, position and more game time...
i just feel like whats the point, to me he is destined to be delisted in a couple years anyway. we need to get better at trimming the fat on our list and earlier.

Sounds like they're re-signing culley so that might mean the end for trew?

Has only played a total of 13 games with over half of them this year and pretty much half of those as the starting sub getting a quarter or less to prove something.
Finally got a stretch of games toward the end of the year and in a few of them performed well to really well and didn't look out of place. Was a bit quiet in a few of the latter games but geez that has been half the team in the past few years.
At 22 he is in the right age bracket and with a little improvement there is a role for him because he has shown he can play at the highest level.
Besides I am sick and tired of the players I sponsor getting cut or retiring the following year.

We’ll stop sponsoring them you evil bastard!!
These are real people with hopes and dreams!!!!

If he stays get him in the gym with aim of turning him into an extractor. Thats where his best traits are at but can’t play that role with the frame he has at AFL level.

At 22 he is in the age bracket where he needs to have shown a bit more imo.

It’s not that he is no good, it is that he is going to be passed by pretty much every draft/FA/trade mid we bring in.

He does a lot of things well, but just not well enough to keep him imo.

Trew has more going for him than Culley who is slow with not much finesse (inmho)
Yeah he may well do but I don't think culley and trew will both get games at afl level together.
More than happy to keep trew on for another year ,especially if we don't trade in any inside mids

Believe me I feel bad and even took a year away to compose myself for the next sponsorship.

Unfortunately I keep ending up with a bottom 6 pick so chances are those available will be needing a bit of luck and creative, supportive sponsoring.

If Trew survives to play another season I will be very proud and view it as a masterstroke in supportive, high level sponsoring without going overboard.
If he doesn't I will drown my sorrows with beer while watching finals contemplating another year of anxious player sponsorship or sit it out safe in the knowledge that I won't be ruining the career of any up and coming Eagles legend 😁

Make the cheque out to cash and I will see what I can do for you this year ;)

He'd have looked like a gun playing in that Geelong side tonight. They just find ways to hype their players individual strengths.
Top level coaching and 23 players buying in and performing their roles will do that.
Something we have been missing for a few years now me thinks.
