Well done wambat... I mean Daniel, on your efforts in shifting the weight, and without surgical intervention too.

We applaud what you have overcome!

Seriously, good effort by the man.

Yep, but why he let himself get like that in the first place is a big question mark. Good on him though ... finding the willingness and dedication to the task could not have been easy. Well done!
Though with that trainer ... a honey ... must have been a little more doable.

Been a tough road, poor old HJ Dalkeith profits have been hit hard.

Thanks for the support SonOfReep
Nice work mate. Spotted you at the footy the other week and thought you looked like a shadow of your former self. Must be a good feeling.

I have watched Daniel walk passed me on his way from the banner to the cheer squad seats for many years. Like the man himself I thought he'd die early if he didn't lose weight. The article mentions a personal trainer, but gives no more detail. What I've always thought is that the Eagles, who have specialists on their payroll; fitness gurus, dieticians, physios, etc, should have taken the lead and offered to help Daniel using their own resources. It seemed a shame that a long time volunteer of a wealthy club wouldn't be offered a hand. Maybe they did and if so it should be acknowledged but also noted that it took way too long.

Great stuff Dan. Couldn't be happier for you. Can definitely see a change in before and after pics.

Keep up your good work and keep supporting the Eagles champion. Really stoked about this

Cannot be understated just how difficult this kind of feat is. Very well done Daniel and good luck as you continue to live life with more freedom and happiness.

We could all improve aspects of ourselves, but in many cases our issues are easy to hide unlike those with obesity. A great story from which all of us can derive some inspiration.

And what do you say?

Hello I represent the West Coast fitness trainers. We have noticed that you are particularly fat and wish to provide a program to help you.

Pretty tough to initiate of the club.

Yep offer a hand next minute Victoria media say West coast ridicule obessed Cheer sqaud member :drunk:

You've got to applaud anyone that takes the bull by the horns and tackles that big a problem. On an even brighter note he'll only have to buy one membership next year :)

But he going to have to spend it on new clothes

We'll done Daniel!

I would love it if they did this. Just walked up to randoms in the crowd and roped them into boot camp.

Are you suggesting that he was unaware that he was obese and would react negatively if help was offered? According to the article he was acutely aware of his situation, so why would an offer of help from an organsation he supports be problematic? My point was that the club should have (they may have, uncredited) seen one of their best volunteers needed just the sort of help they could provide. I'd hope they weren't scared off for fear of offending as you suggest may have been the case.

What could they have said? How about "Daniel, we love the work you do as part of the cheer squad, it's really appreciated by the club, and we'd like help you continue that work for as long as you desire, so we've got together a few of the training staff to devise a program to help you become as fit and healthy as possible, how does that sound?". There's plenty of ways of going about this without resorting to stereotypes.

You can't help anyone lose that much weight unless they are mentally ready to commit to it.

Don't ruin a nice story by focusing on irrelevant things
