I think that was payback for the game at Telstra Dome in 2005. Great to win but seriously neither side deserved to win.

Same old cr*p that we continue to serve up! Disgraceful for three quarters.

Jabso, is there a black ban on bagging players such as O'BREE, LONIE, RICHARDS, FRASER, LICURIA this week. Will the Bigfooty Police crack down on o'BREE haters?

If anyone says Lonie played well, you're kidding yourselves. It's not that difficult to follow a bloke that is afraid of his own shadow and refuses to go near a contest! Still can't tackle, wont get a hard footy when its his turn and doesn't get into the right spots to receive the footy.

Thank god for my Collingwood buddy James Clement. Kept us in the game, along with Heater and Harry. Malthouse finally had all our quick players on the field in the last quarter, we moved it quickly and kicked longer, see what happens!

One question - Is there a side in the competition that wants to play around the boundary line more than us?

I must admit, despite everything that went on in the game, your mob deserved the 3 early goals it kicked in a row in the last, and probably deserved the win thanks to Shaggas arrogance. Good job boys, enjoy the win.:thumbsu:

Yeah i was quite fustrated with the sideline boundary crap and the chipping around in the back half.....KICK IT LONG FFS DOWN THE CENTRE!!! Clement, Lockyer and Heath kept us in the game and kept trying for 4 quarters. I thought richards was ok there were a few times he got the ball but had no one to give it to thus losing it straight away, but still pretty average. I don't think it was the quickness of our players i thought it was the fact that we actually starting going down the centre and kicking it long that turned us around.

well done , great comeback by your mob......
I think so too, despite some people that still look for something to whinge about (see post above by Sloth6). Round 1 is often not a true guide as it takes time to settle in to a rhythm, and a win against North in Round 1 of this season is a better start than the loss to Adelaide in Round 1 of last season. North had won their first-up match in the previous six seasons, so it was beaut to be able to get over them, particularly after being so far behind.

A win's a win. However, I wasn't overly impressed.

We haven't got a forward setup. Rocca is the key - he fires up, the side lifts. He took an awesome mark at centre half-forward, like the Rocca of old, but he doesn't know where to run. If I was playing at full-forward I would wait back in the goalsquare, then push forward, not sideways, and DEFINITELY not all over the place.

What's the deal with Maxwell... Is he a key forward or not?

Paul Licuria is struggling. We will give him a few weeks to find some form, but he won't survive the whole year.
One thing's for sure, though, that is Mick won't make the hard decision.

On the brighter side, I was very happy with Scott Pendlebury. He should start the match in the centre. Looks very, very composed.

Pendlebury shows great class.
Thomas was exciting and had a good game.
H. Shaw continues to get better and always takes those couragous marks.

Richards is a worry. The one moment which summed him up today was when he handballed it straight over his to a kangaroos player. Why!!!

Why has no one mentioned maxwell..

he was awesome for us today...

Hes one of the only ones in the team that put in their all. We are the softest team in the league. If it wasn't for maxwell, heater and clement we may as well be playing netball..

Lonie = Softest **** in the league.

It's only the first round, I'm happy with a win. We looked very, very rusty, that much is clear. But there were some encouraging signs. Rocca's numbers weren't that good, but I thought he provided a strong target in the second half. Medhurst was a bit of a wildcard in the last quarter, Pendles looks set to build on last year. And in a few weeks we can slot Didak and Buckley back in and we should start to look a bit classier then.

We were lucky to win, but I think we will improve.

Ordinary for 3 quarters, but that could be to a few cobwebs and a little rusty for the first game of the year.
Last quarter we actually wrere kicking the ball long into our forward line, instead of all that chipping around rubbish. Once we kicked the ball long are forward line looked dangerous. Medhurst l thought was good for his first game in B & W, his last quarter was encouraging. Clement was sensational, great captains game. Pendles was terrific all day, worked hard, found space and used the ball well, kicked a nice goal to cap of his work as well. Special mentions to Lockyer. H Shaw, R Shaw, who l thought were terrific in the last quarter, and helped us get over the line.
Special note, really enjoyed the look of Harry O'Brien, thought he was very good of half back.

I believe Didak said on MMM, that he will be back next week, is this true? as l didn't hear it.

Now now don't say that. You saw the match today, surely you must agree Leigh Brown for the roos (yes the guy that kept stuffing up, and looks like a girl) is the softest **** in the league.

That said, it was a good final quarter after 3 quarters of afl (can you even call it that)?

You guys deserved to win- given that performance, but i guess that is what the experience of a couple of years will do for you. hopefully we get a few of our young guys to come in- and give Lindsay Thomas some kicking lessons, and next match in the season will be better.

i normally would agree with you. but lets not criticise a player cause it's the fashionable thing to do. Are we forgetting lonie was the victim of an illegal head high hit, one that kept him down and groggy for a few minutes, yet he got up again and played out the game.

Well done maggies, too good for us on the day, good luck next week.

Lockyer and Lica should not line up in the forward line.

It was the forwards fault we played crap footy in the first 3 qaurters. They weren't even down there!

How soft is Lonie?

Medders looked good, I must admit. He should fire next week at his old homeground :thumbsu:

H.Shaw ; Ummm I don't know what to say, Let's just say ; omg whatta gun!

I'm looking forward to next week, long weekend, getting smashed, watching the pies give the eagles a good run for their money :thumbsu: and hopefully seeing Didak back in action.

We were pathetic for 3 quarters. Missing targets, Always stationary, nobody leading into space. Players had nothing to kick to!

Quite Pathetic!!!

Besides that, we won! Top teams win games when they play poorly. I really liked Rocca's game. He might not have kicked many goals, but he provided us with a target and him crashing into packs was something I thought he wouldnt ever do again.

Heath Shaw is a star, and Scotty Burns last quarter was inspirational. Medhurst was good aswell.

Bring on the Eagles!

I know, I was thinking to my self ; how can we lose to the Roos?!?!

We were losing all day, playing the absolutely worst footy ever!

It was actually pretty stupid.

Yet we still win?

Grant hits the post from 10m out?
