Just thought id come in and congratulate you all ona fantastic win today.

I think there is no doubt at all that the Eagles are amongst the top 3 or 4 teams in the competition. They might not have the best list or the best depth, but your playing with a lot of heart and a lot of guts and youll win a lot of new fans by playing the way you have been this year.

I havent seen the game yet (was at the Port match), but you should have heard the Port crowd cheer when it was announced on the scoreboard that you had won.

Cant wait to watch the replay.

btw....anyone else as totally shellshocked at the form of Andrew Embley this year? Talk about raising his playing level a good 6 or 7 notches!

Well done Eagles!!! Hope your form continues to shine for the rest of the year

Ta. Embley is 'my' player in our player sponsoring thingy, and if you look back, I've been calling this prior to the year, ever since I saw the way he was training and how he played in the intra club. I used to want him cut, but apparently words were exchanged between him and Worsfold after a poor year last season and some off field debacles, the result of which was that he worked his bollocks off over the preseason, and has gone from being an inconsistent understrength HFF, to a 190cm wingman whose been amongst our best each week- this game was probably a watershed- best performance of his entire career.
My personal theory is that prior to this season Woosha called him into his office, slammed him up against the wall and beat seven different kinds of crap out of him for continually letting down the club over the years.
Then, once the pink mist had cleared, Worsfold would have let Embley slump to the ground, informed him he was a required player and handed him a two year contract.
At least, thats what i reckon :) Tough love method.

Cheers Macca. Embly has been a very pleasant surprise. If we are still in the top 4 come round 16 or so, top 2 will start to look very important as I believe the top 4 will be all interstate teams...creating havoc! And I believe both of ours team will be there.

If you ever go for a job as a fly on the wall, I reckon you're a shoe-in.

Yeah, fantastic win!
I'm very surprised by the Eagles form, at the beginning of the year i didn't have them in the 8 :(.
Your midfield is so exciting to watch it makes me shiver to think Simon Black could've been in a West Coast jumper.
You guys will be there come September there's no doubt about it.

Well Done.

I can really imagine that happening. I reckon Woosha would have said...you either perform or you get out of here and find yourself a new club! He obviously was up to the challenge and worked bloody hard over the summer and is now playing the best footy of his career.

Very good win by the Eagles. A win on the road against last years GFers is a fine achievement.

You played two great patches of footy. The opening 10 minutes and the final 8 minutes were great stuff, the equal of any sides around. But I don't think that was the best part for the Eagles.

Even bad teams can have good spells. Its how you play when things aren't going your way that tells the true story. Young blokes find it hard to play steamroller footy for 4 quarters (like Brisbane do), and they can let thing get away from them if you're not careful.

We manged to stay in touch even though we were being blown away, and then we came back hard. Once we got in front I felt it was all over (and so did the players apparently). Our height and home ground advantage had stretched the West Coast to breaking point. But they didn't break. That is the sign of as well coached, well organized side.

Geez its sounds funny but they really remind me of the Pies of last year. I know you have a completely different looking list (small forwards, good ruck) to the Pies but there was just something about them. They put together a couple of awesome spells, and then held it together in the face of a fairly powerful onslaught by a much bigger and more highly rated team. They refused to be broken. Worsfold coaches very much in the Malthouse style, only more so. I look forward to the next meeting.

Yeah, little Benny got a mention in Blacky's Brownlow Speech :)
His contract expires at the end of the year so for now he's safe with us! :p
