Wellingham SUSPENDED by club

just watched the club on fox, Before the wellingham news, i noticed when mick was saying his good byes, wellingham could not give the the slightest of cares of what had happened on the field and what was being said by a collingwood legend. This guy has no right to disrespect the collingwood club and further more the 80,000 people that work hard every day of their lives and give there hard earned money to the club. This guy gives me the shits and like i said before the club should move him on to GWS while his over inflated price tag is high. In saying he will maybe come back and dominate, and kick 4 goals in this years granny.

He wot play until Round 3 or 4 now IMO.
He is best 22, but Bucks is a big time professional. He will make sure that Wellingham knows that you don't mess around under the new regime. A 2 match ban is bad already, but I think if he just came straight back in to best 22 in round 3 it would give him the message that he (Wellers) is indispensable. To the outside world it's 2 weeks. But within the club it will be at least 3.

Monty python said it best - "He is not the messiah, he is a very naughty boy!"

Let's hope he can finally learn from this and turn things around. It is a long season and he has plenty of time to prove himself.

I broke heaps of rules between 19-23, but I was not competing for a spot in an AFL team, and the consequences were contained to a tiny little group of people, and usually, just me.
.

Yeah I think that argument sounds good in theory but the reality of life supersedes it.

Did you never drink drive MMD? Speed?

Think of what may have happened there.
And your earnings at the time, sorry not hugely relevant IMHO

Don't get me wrong, I'd have preferred it didn't happen but let's, as a group of supporters, try and keep some perspective here.

He probably only had a beer or 2. No biggie. Life goes on.

Nah. I reckon he got shitfaced and slept through the next morning, missing the rehab session.

You dont have two or three beers and sleep through an alarm. Suspension fits the crime.

I hope it works in his favour. Gets himself fully fit, his mind on the job, works his butt off to earn back the respect of the players and has a good year.

We All Want this for Sharrod but I really doubt that would happen. Seems to be too much of a Jocker

He's done pretty well for 3 or 4 years, I don't know how one indiscretion suddenly makes him a liability. Look at what happened with Steve Johnson in 2007. Got a club imposed 5 week suspension for drinking and he turned it into a positive. I think people are overreacting (again).

Simple, he knew the club rules and has broken them, and punishment has justifiably been handed out.

Whether he learns from it is another matter all together and is up to him.

Lol at the Herald Sun headline "Drinking costs Wellingham two weeks".

If you actually listened to Walsh, or even have read the whole quotes from his interview, it seems as if from the clubs point of view Sharrod missing a rehab session was at least as important, and maybe even more important of a transgression.

But the Herald Sun can't help themselves.

Oh come off it.

I recall Dermott saying as a Collingwood player that the diehards were often too soft on the players after a shit performance - this is a case in point.

This is spot on.

It would only have become apparent that Sharrod ****ed up when he missed the rehab session. Two beers, my arse.

I'm a big wrap for Sharrod and he has certainly come some way over the last few years, but honestly he needs to get out of cruise mode. No club is going to keep paying a mid sized salary when the cap squeeze is on.

He's not Swanny even if he might share the same laid back disposition and has to realise where he's at in his career.

To my mind he's enormous in his potential but would want to straighten out. A football career is not long and wage slavery is ****ing boring.

Get your shit together Sharrod, you could be a great player and set yourself up for life.

A level of professionalism is expected. As an experienced senior player you'd expect more from Sharrod.

My impression is that Sharrod is feeling content with his position on the list. I'd like to see him have to work his way back the hard way through the VFL to prove the point that under a new coach you won't be able to get away with things all of a sudden.

Accountability is a must. Without it winning won't happen.

here we go again...forget the Irish boys this guy is a senior premiership player who in all honesty carries on like he's the Prince Of Pazzazz...his performances have been down & inconsistent...enter Nathan Buckley and the new regime, firstly how tight was the lid kept on this one??...congrats no leaks yet...but it is becoming more and more evident that Buckley is sticking to his philosophies & beliefs whereby u can forget what u have achieved to date ..unless u are performing on the field & on the track u won't get a gig doesn't matter what your name is...Sharrod Wellingham is on the verge... I believe if his attitude doesn't smarten up he will be shown the door...
he's been carrying on like a pork chop as usual on twitter maybe he should focus on winning Bachelor of the yr...very disappointing Sharrod :thumbsdown:

God Bigfooty confuses me.

On the one hand the players from the 70s and 80s were vastly superior from modern players and are also legends due to their drinking exploits, particularly guys who performed well after having big nights right before a game. But on the other hand modern players are incapable of performing to the supposedly lower standards of the modern game, if they have a big night two weeks before the season starts.

lol some massive over reactions in this thread.

Pretty minor incident really. Stupidity on Sharrod's part but very minor in isolation.

It's far from "strike 2" for him either considering the severity of what others have gotten away with on numerous times.

Nonetheless, he got his fair whack.

Probably not a bad way to build his game time up either in the first two weeks of the season which should have him primed for a return to senior action in round 3.

spot on. good challenge for SW, lets see how it reacts to it ...

As someone posted he is on very thin ice,he could be gone at the end of the year it is up to him how this turns out,he promise,s so much and delivers so little.

I think he is coasting as well if it does not change this year it will be an easy decision to make,he could go close to AA if he pulled his finger out only time will tell.
