Did we really offer up sharrod wellingham as a possible sweetner on the ball deal?

absolute stupidity...i hope mick is thanking his lucky stars the sainters didnt take it... its makes me sick in the guts to think of what we would have lost

with his pace and skill wellingham would have fitted in perfectly at the saints aswell :D (particularly due to the lovett affair)
makes the success of the ball coupe even better..

He was a Sweetner but was offered to North for Pick 25 and that was going to be on-traded to Saints with pick 62

I was under the impression it was the total opposite situation, and that they asked for him and Mick told them to get f*cked?

As I understand it, Wellingham was offered to North for pick 25, because pick 30 and a player couldn't get the deal done.
Then 25 and Goldsack to St Kilda for Ball.

Think that was Nathan Brown the Saints wanted and we told where to stick it

This is the one I'm thinking of, Goldy not Wellers.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing..

If you look at Wellingham's performance last year, he usually goes missing when the pressure was on.. (i was a bit worried that he would turn out to be Egan II.

no one could tell that he would improve the way he did

As a massive Wellingham supporter since day dot, I agree with this. I think Wellingham is our most talented midfielder, but didn't see the improvement in his application and concentration levels I was hoping for after 3 years at the club. He still looked ok at AFL level and did some nice things, but he did that in 2008 also in the 12 games he played, I just didn't necessarily see too much improvement from 08 to 09, where I thought he could overcome the mental hurdles required to succeed at AFL level.

When I heard his name offered for trade, I was disappointed, but nearly as much as I would have been a year earlier.

Right now he's just showing off the talent he has always had, but never properly applied himself to make the most of.

sometimes you need a kick in the ass to realise your potential.

he was shocking in the Geelong final. I would have been happy to trade him after his defensive pressure or lack of, and the way he responded to his captain on field.

thankfully he has turned it all around and I hope he goes from strength to strength.

According to the girl involved, it was no affair.
