the general media don't talk up Griff in the same level as they do Wells. i.e One is appropriately a Brownlow Medal chance and the other isn't..

They are talking up Wells because this is the season he has taken the big step. His improvement this year is a story. Griffen took the big step last season, his 2011 isn't a surprise and is therefore not as much of a story

Hey, it wasn't me that dead set declared Wells a brownlow contender and not Griffen. I know Griff's had a fantastic year and purely on statistics he's on par with Wells if not slightly ahead in a few key areas; its just that I keep hearing a lot of Bulldog fans claiming he easily has Wells covered for 2011 yet the general media don't talk up Griff in the same level as they do Wells. i.e One is appropriately a Brownlow Medal chance and the other isn't..

Personally the likely hood is that neither of these blokes are going to win assuming neither side doesn't go a winning streak of some sort, I just wanted to make the point..

FYI - Sportsbet has them both at $26 to win the Brownlow.

Well, it is at least good to see that the Dogs supporters in this thread have pulled away from the "Griffen is miles ahead this year!' delusional position now.

Perhaps it was watching the sublime Wells live. Perhaps it was seeing him torch Griffen head to head. Whatever it was, it seems we are back to 'they are neck and neck'. Which is almost true.

Wells has nudged slightly ahead after another standout performance on the weekend.

Oh dear, you're using the word delusional to describe us, yet you think Wells has gone ahead of Griffen based on one match?

Says a lot when it takes Griffen's worst game of the year for Wells to be considered even with him.

I'm just looking at stats so I'd love to know what made his RD 1, RD 8 or RD 12 games better than his effort on the weekend.

FWIW, the question was who would you take. I'd take Griffen because he's younger and he kicks more goals. They are level in pretty much every other category except Wellsy hits more targets.

This is comfortably Griffen's best year, by the way. He's been building ever since he had his first reasonable year in 2008. '11 is the first year he has been elite, although he was close in '10.

Considering they played on each other for periods of time, it's good to see Wellsy came out on top.

Of course not. The were neck and neck and after Sunday, Wells is now ahead.

It is not that hard to understand.

Only in your delusional brain.

Prior to the last game, the coaches had Wells in front. After the last game the coaches have Wels further in front.

Better performer in a better team.

Never got an answer to this. I'd imagine his 16 disposal, goalless game today would also be in contention for his worst game of the year.

Wellsy had a poor game today. Tagged out of it. 17 touches and 2 goals for him.
