I think Wells would be a good addition. I don't think he is performing in part because I don't see him as an out and out midfielder like the Kangaroos having been playing him as. I would play him in the Daniel Motlop forward/half forward role and I think he could provide some dash and much needed crumbing skills to our forward line.

I don't see what we'd trade for him, do the Kangaroo's want another Hansen?

Right from the draft last year there were issues raised on this board that the WCE had somehow missed an opportunity to pick up a player that had that X-factor - one who could change a game with some moments of brilliance. With Wells we are talking about that exact player. Sure he's not consistent but tell me any indiginous player who is, given these are the ONLY players who seem to have the magical X-factor (Johnson from Geelong perhaps the exception).
Make no mistake Wells DOES have talent - and the Eagles can use this talent and quite honestly Wells himself could do with a change of game plan. He would easily make the Eagles best 22 and at 24/25 would provide the Eagles with 5-6 good years and another 100-120 games. What would be the chances of a 2nd round pick at end of this year playing 100-120 games with the quality of the youngsters already on the list ?
Given the Eagles need to upgrade Cockie and Davis at years end they will need to offload some players. give NM a choice of 2 from Rosa, Wilkes and Spangher as well as the 2nd round pick.
Note : have spoken to someone quite knowledgeable in the comings and goings of Essendon - there may well be an opportunity to pick up some X factor players there at years end PLUS a very highly rated but injury prone CHF (as if WC need another of those)

Gumbleton? I would have thought Essendon have invested too much time in him to give him up. Even so, we don't need him.

Just wondering what X factor players you're referring to? The only ones at Essendon I can think of are Lovett, Davey and Dempsey and I don't see any reason why the Bombers would give any of them up.

I'd choose Lovett and Dempsey over Wells anyday of the week.

Is it Alwyn Davey who plays for Essendon? Then I'd choose him over Wells aswell.

To the people labelling Wells a match winner etc etc. Name a game where he has actually dominated the whole game leading to a win. The only game i recall Wells technically "winning" a game is the v Freo mid air ninja kick.

Watch norths second half of 2008 when they started to gain momentum. Wells was almost always BOG when they won. Hes a gun player and if he we can get while his value is pretty low i reckon we should go for it. He will be peaking in our next 'gf window'.

Laidley didnt get the best out of Motlop either and now look at him at Port :thumbsu:

I think Wells would be the perfect fit for us.

We are struggling with really hurting the opposition when we are in possession of the ball.

As stated, the question is the price.

There is another - with a family member at Swan Districts who is also on the Eagles radar.;)

Valid point, he did start to show some of his worth in the latter part of last season with high numbers and consistent performances. But so did Staker :p

However hes failed to follow that up this season.

If he was available i wouldnt be against getting him. However i wouldnt be throwing the kitchen sink at North to get him. We could get by without him. Hes not just going to walk up and dramatically improve the side. He'll need to work on his "attitude and issues" that are keeping him out of Norths side at the moment.

North would want a high 1st round pick at least and I would trade it to them for him if there wasnt outstanding talent in the draft. If the draft was strong however I would probably keep the pick.
